hi !
i want to build a “philips living color” controlled by pimatic.
whats the best way to do it ?
i read about a rgb led ring with arduino or a wifi lamp…
my base should be the ikea lamp “FADO” .
can anyone give me some help or tips ?

built a lamp like philips living color, controlled by pimatic

having similar thoughts and already some led rings here (but no fado yet).
i have seen a nice video from @sweebee who created a nice moodlight that way.
maybe you can help a bit, sweebee?pimatic v0.9 has been released!

@germanuser said in built a lamp like philips living color, controlled by pimatic:
FADO
How much space does the FADO provide to house a PCB? A simple and cheap solution could be to use a RF LED controller liike:
- Milight RGBW Controller, cost about 8 Euros - makes sense if you already have a Milight Bridge
- LW12 RGBW Controller - a Wifi LED Controller which costs about 25 Euros
If you prefer tinkering, I would possibly go for a sollution based on ESP8266. If you search for “ESP8266 LED Strip” you’ll find many intersting articles. E.g. have a look at
"It always takes longer than you expect, even when you take into account Hofstadter's Law.", Hofstadter's Law

Hmm, i dont own the Fado yet.
i think with Milight or LW12 its to expensive.- Fado 10€
- LW12 Controller 28€
- 5v power supply for lw12 (?)
- RGB Led / Stripe (?)

Maybe some cheap RGB e27 lamp like this
http://www.ebay.de/itm/10W-RGB-LED-E27-Gluhbirne-Farbwechsel-Gluhlampe-LED-Birne-mit-Fernbedienung-/272227428971?hash=item3f6204ea6b:g:YvYAAOSwdGxXIv5Rand a strong IR blaster (theoretically directly with Raspberry GPIOs)
Maybe the dome of FADO is to opaque for the IR.One could also think about putting weak IR senders inside the FADO then you can control each seperately if you have multiple but you would need some kind of power supply.
Or you use 5v Powersupply (5€)+ NODE MCU ESP8266 board(<10€) + WSXXXX RGB LEDs (for example neo pixel ring <10€)
