    maybe this is an option?

    https://shop.omg.de/ubiquiti-networks/mfi/mpower/ubiquiti-switch-dimmer-mfi-ld/a-13486/?ReferrerID=7.00&gclid=CjwKCAjwo4jOBRBmEiwABWNaMYYRtnXpy0ku-X7fHIzT5gCZ9L1HvylWCGy7WijQ_KrT8kQoolBPbBoCpWUQAvD_BwE

Looks to cheap to be a serious thing but also not expensive to try out… However I guess that they dont have certification here in europe.

I know Ubiquity from Wifi Accespoints where they have very good products with extremely competitive pricing…
Smarthome seems to be a new area for them or somebody is just stealing their logo

@michbeck100 said in Google Assistant - Start building Actions on Google:

@thex I don’t like the idea to “open” my smart home to the public internet.

Me neither but if you want to use it I think there is no other way. I think if we don’t introduce/create some cloud connectivity this will drasticly impact the adoption of pimatic in the future.

I think there are ways to do this in a sufficiently secure manner so that I would agree to use it.

    • Reverse connection to the cloud via proven web standards
      • using SSL/TLS and websockets or MQTT
      • no listening ports open
      • should also solve necessity to set up static IP/dynDns
    • Using oAuth with different levels of access which can be easily revoked
    • No own user management, use oAuth framework for authenticating via google/facebook/amazon etc.
    • Very “loud” notifications for failed login attempts or similar.
    • Selective control on which devices can be controlled and also which functions (status only, change, change only specific properties)

I just checked my network connections on the raspberry when investigating an other problem…

32 open http connections to the receiver, doesn’t sound right and could be responsible for some problems as the receiver has very low processing power.

Ither the connections are not properly closed or not properly reused. You could take a look at my Harmony plugin, had similar problems and introduced some kind of connection pooling. This also made it faster for me as you don’t need to create a new connection everytime a command is sent or some value is polled.

I don’t know if the button device in general has the option to do this… as far as I remember it does only have one pressed action, there is no event for the release.

Technically it should be possible however I’m afraid I won’t find time for it anytime soon.

@Tim looks like direct serial connection to the stick so it should get updates immediately, no server/middleware in between so this could work if one adds the needed devices

Sadly google seems to solely rely on cloud services for smarthome…
I tried to add it via echo before and after the last update so with Wemo/Hue emulation and it never did find any local devices. (Basically there is no real way of searching for them)

If you select either Wemo or Hue you get redirected to their oauth services so it might work via cloud if you could add the fake wemo or hue devices to the original manufacturer app/cloud.

I think for proper integreation there we really need to create our own pimatic cloud or create a connection to a trusted generic IOT platform supported bei Google.

Using razberry with zway works quite solid. However I think switches are currently only polled. I think one would need to change the implementation of the zway plugin to use the websocket provided by zway than it should be possible to work event driven.
Don’t know about the USB solution of @Tim.

Great idea, however I would suggest to do this as a plugin/part of pimatic-web-frontend so that one can copy the info without touching the shell.

Looks like your connection to pimatic forum was lost, please wait while we try to reconnect.
