Pimatic Max connection error
Hey,
yesterday i got my MAX! Lan Gateway and installed the max plugin. I got the following errors:
error [pimatic-max]:connection error: Error: connect EHOSTUNREACH09:10:22
error [pimatic-max]: connection error: Error: connect EHOSTUNREACH
Here is my configuration:

I also tested port 62910 with no changes.
Where is the error or problem?

@thost96 Did you perform a basic connectivity test?
For example, you can do this as follows (assuming pimatic is running on raspi):

If i use port 54965 nothing happens, on port 62910 it works. But i got the same errors in the log.

maybe stupid question, but did you setup the max cube with the max software?
another issue is, that the cube only accepts one connection. so if you are running the max software or maybe connect from your mobile, you cannot access it with pimatic.

Yes i used the max software to setup the cube. The max software and an app on my mobile are not running.

Did you execute the netcat command on the host which is running pimatic? Is it really EHOSTUNREACH what you get when having setup the plugin with port 62910? Please double-check.
Do you have iptables (or similar) activated on this host?

Yes i executed it on my rpi which is running pimatic. Yes it is this error:

The cube runs firmware 1.4.2. Do i need to take special settings on the cube?

normally not, just the usual network settings and adding your devices. that’s all.
my cube runs on 1.4.1 - don’t know if that matters so far.

@thost96 Thanks. I don’t see why this works from the command line while it does from pimatic. In particular I am concerned about the EHOSTUNREACH error. Normally, this error message is telling you that A (pimatic) cannot talk to B (cube) as there is no route from A to B.
How does the IP-Address setup work for the MAX Cube? Is it dynamic (DHCP) or do you have to assign a static address?

It’s using DHCP, but it will ever get the 192.168.10.1 from my router (fritzbox).

That’s bad. So, possibly, you have another DHCP server on the network if it is not your router providing the address?!

That’s not bad, that is what i have configured in the fritzbox webgui! There is no other DHCP server on my network. The networking between the rpi(pimatic) and the cube and other devices works fine. Is it possible to downgrade the max cube firmware to version 1.4.1?

Hey, yesterday i tried some older firmware version from the max cube. After downgrading to version 1.4.1 everything works fine. I think there is a big change between 1.4.1 and 1.4.2. Hope this helps other with the same error.

@thost96 Great, you have managed to solve this! The error behaviour you had, however, leaves a lot of questions open.
The announcement for v1.4.2 claims they only have added language support for Dutch, French, Italian and Polish. See German post http://www.elv.de/topic/max-software-1-4-2.html Well, that is probably just the change log for the PC software. Other posts state, the Cube firmware included with v1.4.2 is v1.13. So, it would be interesting to know if v1.4.1 contains an older version of the firmware. May be you can find out and let us know which version of the firmware is currently installed on the Cube? @thost an I had a chat conversation yesterday.
I’ve provided the firmware versions 1.3.7, 1.3.10 and 1.4.1 that he tried out.
Finally the Max! 1.4.1 Firmware works with Pimatic <-- download from my dropbox if you are actually running into issues with other firmware versions.

Sorry to refresh this old thread again.
I installed the Max! system recently, basically it works fine, however I get from time to time exactly the error messages from above.
Is there any news / expirience on this topic?
Configuration:
Cube Firmware is 1.4.6, Pimatic Max Plugin 0.9.0
The Max! Cube seems to have a problem with 1GBit LAN connection.
After switching the related LAN connection to 100Mbit all MAX! Error Messages like
are gone.
How did you manage to limit the connection to 100Mbit?
My cube is connected to an unmanaged switch. The only solution would be to build a patch cable with only 4 wires instead of 8.
