Question on pimatic-aqara plugin: Which gateway version?
Dear Pimatics
I would love to replace my unreliable 433 mhz door and windows sensors with the Xiaomi / Aqara ones.
Finally in March sweebee has releases a plugin which at first sight makes this possible.
Unfortunately there are two versions of the gateway v2 (black and white with outlet on front side) and v3 (round and white with only little holes on the front) and I find no mentioning on which one to use.
Can anybody help me and tell me which one to buy?

There is also a limit on devices that can be connected according to other posters. One said 20, other 32.
Gateway V2 should work. But i would recommend getting the raspbee module, which can use all aqara devices and also other ZigBee devices like hue and TRÅDFRI.

Unfortunately due to no “End 2 End / Step by Step” guide on how to use the raspbee plugin including hardware and API installation (similar to the initial guideline on how to setup pimatic and connect 433mhz hardware) This is no option for me.
It is quite frustrating, there is alot of great things out here but most developers do not take the last and final step to create a simple guide for “endusers” like myself so without a solid “babystep” guide these great functions are only usable for few.
I have already created two guidelines which explain step by step what needs to be done to set something up, but with no Linux knowhow it is a painful process to collect such information.
So I would need to stick with the aqara plugin as this seems to be somwhat easy to setup.
@cherberg uhh… The plugin page is pretty clear and the tutorial to install deConz rest api is even more explained and frankly it is almost a copy and paste tutorial…
I am unsure what you mean with baby steps… Terms like “install” and “activate” are pretty self explaining…
As for the part you find frustrating, it is also why the forum is here. For people who lack knowledge or simply need help. But i do think the developers also expect we try things on our own. They are always around to help if needed.

Sorry to object but I canot see a “tutorial” to install the “deConz rest api” whatever this may be.

Chapter “Getting started” seems to assume that the program is already installed.
As mentioned the initial installation guide to setup pimatic:

is a good example for something an unskilled user can work with.
Instructions which may be simple to you like: “Just change the value xyz in file zxy and then start the service” already bring a problem to people like myself: Where is this file (folder) how do I navigate there and what is the exact command to access it and how do I start a service etc…
I am usually spending hours in searching elsewhere to execute these sort of steps.

Thanx Fabian. I just wonder why this guide is again to be found somehwhere else and not part of the page that is linked in the raspbee Plugin overview page…grrr 
That is what I mean, there is often a disconnect somewhere and necessary information is elsewhere…
So these steps are all I need to do and then I can install the pimatic-raspbee Plugin and all will work?
Any help to install the hardware?

Like @sweebee already mentioned the raspbee is very good gateway.
For hardware setup you only need to order a raspbee module. There are two different versions:
I’m using a circuit board but I can’t give a recommendation which is the better choice. Perhaps @sweebee , @kosta , @Jens or @SaxnPaule can?

So I have orderd and installed the Raspbee and today the sensors have arrived from China. I have followed the installation of the deconz API plugin by following the guide you lead me to:

Now after restart of the Raspian system when calling the IP adress of my pimatic using my PCs Webbrowser I am not getting the pimatic GUI but a “Phoscon App Login Page”

You need to change the default port of the phoscon app.

I was under the assumption that the “deactivate deconz GUI” steps in the instructions are supposed to take care of that.
However following your guidance does not work for me since I have no deconz** entries/subfolders in folder /etc/systemd/system. 
any ideas? Shall I run the installation procedure again?
Give it a try. Maybe uninstall of previous installation would be better.
I followed the instructions from your post 1:1 again but still no deconz** entries in folder /etc/systemd/system. executing the command sudo nano /etc/systemd/system/deconz-gui.service.d/local.conf shows the message that the file does not exist
I tried changing the command to
sudo nano /lib/systemd/system/deconz-gui.service.d/local.conf
since there are deconz** entries in this folder but the file does not exist.
any more ideas?
P.S.: I do not know how to uninstall the deconz api
So I was able to manually change the file “deconz.service” in folder /lib/systemd/system using the “nano editor” and make the change to the port, this did the trick and after restart the pimatic GUI shows again.

So maybe the installation procedure was changed and the files are now elsewhere.
I found the configuration file:
/etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/deconz.service
In my notebook installation the other file doesn’t exist either.

did the trick, the port I entered there also shows in the file you mentioned.
