Tried the new version in this moment, but no success. Start the search of the Echo severel times (the smart home section was cleaned before- no other devices are present).
Today I can test with a Dot of a friend maybe. Will report if this makes pimatic available as well in the Echo 2 (2. gen).

[pimatic-echo] Release 0.4.0
-
@ortin i have the feeling that the new echo isn’t capable of connecting to devices without a smart home skill. Would be good if you could confirm this.

That’s as well my feeling as discussed here and I think it will not come with any update in future. Further I could imagine, that the older devices get an update which may will deactivate this feature.
Do we have somebody here on the board how is able to develop a Pimatic Echo skill?
-
@ortin I am already looking into this but this will be way more complicated to install than a pimatic plugin.

Just released 0.4.6. Hope this finally fixes the communication with the new echo, as well with the old echo. Please try and give feedback.

Here my feedback - Good news. The new Echo is able to find the defined devices from Pimatic.
- Shutter works perfect as well with up/down command
- Switches can be changed by voice command, but mostly with the response that the device not react (e.g. Schalter reagiert nicht) or something went wrong (irgendwas ist schief gelaufen)
- Dimmer can be changed by voice command, but mostly with the response that requested value is out of range (Der Wert liegt außerhalb des Bereich für Dimmer) or something went wrong (irgendwas ist schief gelaufen)
- Button will be “pressed”, but mostly with the response that the device not react (e.g. Schalter reagiert nicht) or something went wrong (irgendwas ist schief gelaufen)
Example for Dimmer. Command was executed, the log shows no errors to that moment, but with negative voice response from Alexa. At the end it works, but hopefully you are able to handle this in the future.

@ortin Ok, thanks for the feedback.
Would be great if anybody else using the new echo could give feedback if they see the same problems?

Hello,
I have a fresh Echo 2 taken out of the box 2 days ago. It updated before I had a chance to touch it.
When I go to Smart Home -> Devices, it says: “Enable smart home skills to control devices with Alexa. If you’ve already enabled your skill, discover devices below”. Sadly, the Discover button produces no results. I tried adding the Philips hue app, but that’s not working… so I am stuck. No progress, whatsoever…
-
@piotr-chrobot As you are using the new echo, you must set the port of the hue emulator to 80, (currently set to port 9876, see screenshot). Please make sure that port 80 isn’t already in use on your system.

Hi! Thank you for the immediate reply. It is a clean RPi with just pimatic instlled so 80 should be free. Where do you set the port of the hue emulator? In plugin config or the device definition? Should Alexa then discover the device without the skill or will it enable adding the skill?
-
@piotr-chrobot In the plugin config (see https://github.com/michbeck100/pimatic-echo/blob/master/echo-config-schema.coffee).
There is currently no skill, so it will discover the devices without.

Hello! I tried it with the port 80 for the pimatic-echo plugin. At first the serverd did not want to start at all. After I had changed the port of the pimatic server to 8080 it all worked out. Alexa discovered 3 devices (3 names of the EchoSwitch).
Thank you!
Now I have to work on getting it all conected to my Wago PLC

After i have deactivated all DummySwitches, Echo2 is now able to find my devices and i can control them. There seems to be an problem witch the DummySwitches. Another issue is that my Echo2 is not able to find my tradfri devices, but they are activated in my config.
