Hey Guys,
as mentioned in another thread started by myself, my wife is not the kind of “i open pimatic app/web an mobile to change temperature etc.”.
As there are no prebuilt solutions, that’ll work for what i want, there are some thought’s that i’d like to share and for which i’d like to get some hints / feedback.
What i want:
Display, mounted to the wall. Displaying current room temperature (sensor in pimatic), as well as the set temperature of a fritz-dect. Values would be send over 433/esp, when it changes in pimatic, so the display get’s updated. There should be just 2 buttons for setting the temperature ±0.5°C. That’s it for the first approach. I’d really like having it powered by batteries.

The easiest way would be a tablet / pi zero + display, mounted to the wall, running pimatic in browser 24/7. I really don’t want that

Any kind of arduino with sending/receiving possibilities and display attached
- 2.1) Connection
- 433Mhz Receiver / Transmitter
- Esp8262
- 2.2) Display
- Any LCD
- Touchscreen (would replace buttons)
- E-Ink/E-Paper display
- 2.3) Input
- Some buttons, should’nt be the problem
- 2.4) Housing
- Built from wood
- 3d printed
@2.1:
I think the esp8266 will be the more stable choice, but i’ve never done anything with it (2 laying arround here). - Would it be possible to receive the temperature values and give them to arduino? And will there be additional gpio’s for the buttons?
433 mhz should do the trick as well, but the range is probably more limited and it’s more exposed to lost signals etc.
@2.2
As i want to keep the power consumption as low as possible (probably with some AA/AAA batteries), the lcd / touch is more like “yeah, would be possible”, while the e paper is my favorite choice. I’d like to use a waveshare 2.7inc / 4.3inch which should offer all, that’s needed
@2.3
@2.4
I’d prefer the wood housing. Probably i’ll try some wood-filament as well.
Is this a realistic approach? What setting would you prefer - and why? Is there a nice way to get started with esp8622 (i’ve seen some developement boards like: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B018E741G4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=A9M0EGF97CWIX&psc=1 - probably easier for first tinkering?)?
Anything else i’ve to keep in mind?
Greetings, Chris
