@michbeck100: Value is out of range. See here.
BTW: I got an Echo 1st gen., since this is in the network everything is okay. When I start a new search the found device type is Lux Light for all. Before it was always Royal Philips Eletronics intelligant Device. This is not able to be dimmed to “0%” or “100%”, but min “1%” and max “99%”. The device type Lux Light can be dimmed from 0% till 100%.
The device type Lux Light can be only operated without any problem when the 1st gen. Echo is present in the network. When I power it off, then the 2nd gen. works, but mostly with negative responses (as I wrote before). Here the port must be set to 80. Is the port set to default the 2nd gen. Echo is not more able to operate anything! Even when I now start the 1st gen. Echo nothing works. Devices must be deleted, and a new search must be started. After that everything works…
It’s really crazy. For me now all is fine. But guys with only one or more 2nd gen. Echo(s) will get responses which must not be true, but it works!
EDIT: Funny is that device Royal Philips Eletronics intelligant can operater my shutters with up and down (rauf/runter). With Lux Light only up (rauf) works. Now I use Royal Philips Eletronics intelligant from the 2nd gen. Echo search result for my shutters and the Lux Light from the 1st gen. Echo search result for the rest. Bad is that it is much work when I have to delete all devices for any reason. Then I have to to the crazy search action once more!
@ortin The brightness value sent from Alexa is between 0 and 255. So every value in between is fine. pimatic-echo does a conversion to get the brightness in percent.
So i would like to ask again: What are the values for 100% and 0%. If it is 255 and 0, thats normal.

Seem I overlook this. Have no idea when and where you asked this!

I made a new device discovery with the 2nd gen. Echo for this, to have the Royal Philips Eletronics intelligant device instead of Lux Light.
@ortin maybe Alexa says that 100% and 0% are not valid because you can also just switch the light on and off? I don’t know. I’m planning to buy a new echo on the cyber monday week. Before that I can’t tell what the problem is.

For sure you will handle it after getting the device for your own test…
Yesterday after I have opened my Alexa app (via browser) I saw, that there came back devices I deleted before. I want only to have devices in the SmartHome section with the alternative name and not the native name of any. Is it the same for you?
@ortin I have seen this before. Don’t know why this happens. If you use the name property in the echo section it will be used solely for the name that Alexa knows. Don’t use the “additionalNames” property. These are obviously additional names.

The plan was to have more than one name for my devices. But this was more a test, because the Echo mostly told me, that “there is more than one device with this name”, even every additional name is unique.
The “name” property is somehow blocked for me. Means I can’t change is via GUI. I have to do it directly in the config.json. Is this the normal way.
@ortin
disable them in the mobile alexa app and they should be permanent blocked. i have done them in the webfontent and next day all Devices was listet again… but in the disabled in App stays still disabled…
See what you mean, will try it.
@michbeck100: Regarding the name property is there really only the way over the config.json. I tried it with Chrome and Firefox. The field is there, when I click in it, it get no “focus” to write in it.
@ortin I couldn’t find out, why its disabled in the first place. This is somehow an issue in the gui. This kind of config extension wasn’t really intended to be done by any plugins before pimatic-hap and pimatic-echo.

i have the same problem. the name field is greyed out.
If i change the property from “name” to something else.(for example name2)
the checkbox appears and works like wanted.
@kosta Ok, thats strange but maybe thats the answer. I will use that info in one of the next versions.

maybe because “name” is used also as normal option and is needed.
so in the echo context the gui don’t show a checkbox for the name option
@kosta Just tried to change the property to “nameOverride” but it didn’t make a difference. How did you change the property?

@kosta Please note that once you have set the property to any value, the text field isn’t disabled anymore. This also worked before with the property named “name”.

With this change the checkbox appears, also for all devices.
also for those who didn’t have a “name” config before.
