I had the same issue like @Harry-van-der-Wolf,
after a mistake with deep sleep I couldn’t get out of the wheel.
It seems like ESP is reconnecting all the time and toogeling between AP and configured Wifi but never gets connected for longer than some seconds. So not enough time to connect with anything to reconfigure or do something else.
Reprogramming the ESP with arduino sketch again dosn’t help either as settings don’t change from that.

I reflashed the ESP with modified *.ino to delete all Eprom data and started from beginning after that.

Maybe you could do some special procedure to avoid this in case of wrong configuration by the users settings?

Please read the wiki and instructions, it could all be avoided by simply configuring a Pimatic backdoor variable for these situations: https://github.com/koffienl/ESPimatic/wiki/System#device-settings

did a quick and very very dirty implementation with LiquidCrystal_I2C.h lib just to see if it’s feasible. well, i like it ^^

well, i guess i am not skilled enough to get this integrated fully into the espimatic code.
what do you think about it? @koffienl would that be a good feature request?

I think I have a I2C LCD somewhere laying around here. First I have some unfinished business to release, after that I can test with new stuff
Currently working on 0.1.27:

• Bug(s) fixed:
  • No login in AP mode when authentication enabled
• Feature(s) added:
  • Receive 433Mhz RF and retransmit to Pimatic homeduino
  • When in AP mode (because of unable to connect to existing WiFi), reboot after 5 minutes
  • redesign of saving settings: everything will be in a config.json file (including automatic conversion of current settings
  • GPIO backdoor for deepsleep

Allmost finished with the config.json part, now I have to make a conversion function and then change all the code where settings are read of written.

How did you powered the LCD? I tested earlier with ESP and Adafruit LCD for Raspberry Pi. The text was unreadable due to 3.3v instead of 5v

I see some resistors, can you tell the wiring schema?

sorry, the picture is misleading! the resistor is for the ds18 on the small little blue board.
i use the wemos d1 mini board. that has a 5v pin
the lcd is connected very simple : scl = d1pin and sda = d2 pin
5 volt and ground i took from the according pins.

using this code :

Thanks, still not used to the fact that modern ESP’s like NodeMCU and Wemos do have 5v out. My current board only has 3.3v out. Still waiting for delivery of newer boards.

Small other suggestion : the dual LED Matrix (MAX7219) are also cheap and cool,

having the matrix here, but no soldered any pins on it now. will be my next project
i was thinking also of some other use for the lcd display and espimatic too.
would it be possible to send messages to the lcd from pimatic?
so you could have a simple status screen with some configurable input.

Sure, that wouldn’t be difficult at all, just send from pimatic to the API.

No problem, I like these ideas

If possible, I want the next version (0.1.28 , not the version I’m currently working on) be able to receive AND send RF from/to pimatic, so we can have multiple RF nodes in the Pimatic environment.

I have used your code for my Weather Station. I have add support for the BH1750 and BMP180 and also write my own I2C protocol (to communicate sensor values between a Arduino Nano/Uno and the ESP module)

I’m currently trying to make it easier to add sensors/devices/acuators in ESPimatic by making some sort plugin system, making it easier for others to add just such new code. Will take some time though.

have you a guide how must I connect the supported devices?
I try a relay, and this device kill my esp. I think my connection was wrong.

the “left side” is a LED display. You don’t need to pay attention to that one (unless you want to connect one ).

Need i here a jumper and if yes, for
JD-VCC and VCC
or
VCC and Ground

Keep the jumper as you received from seller. Connect VCC to 3.3v on ESP , GND to GND on ESP and In1 to a GPIO (same for In2).
