according to the topic of this thread http://forum.pimatic.org/topic/235/howto-receive-transmit-infrared I plan to build my own IR unit to replace these numerous remotes in my livingroom. I’m still listing the components and am missing a important part: the case. I want to incorporate it in my cupboards and don’t want to see all thes IR-LEDs. Therefore it would be best to have a small case to put the electronics in which is tranparent for IR (and in best case opaque for normal light).
If someone has a good idea how to build one or a suggestion from ebay (shipping to germany) that would be great.

just for the leds our should it include a raspberry pi or arduino? -
@Anduril This is what I had in mind for a similar project. Maybe it is possible to tweak the Pollin receiver or even just use it as is.

thanks for your reply. I only want to mount the LEDs and the transistor inside the case. My RPi already has a nice case where I can also mount the receiver (as not necessary all the time).
@mwittig that looks realy great, I could easily add 2 or even 4 LEDs in there. Only bad thing is the price… 0,95€ plus 5,95€ shipping…
Do you know what material they use for IR-transparent cases? Maybe I can find something small and cheap. -
