Docker image for Synology?
Good day all,
does anybody have a good docker image to run pimatuc on a synology nas (ds218+)
I’ve been using the Petschni image but it’s been giving me the " Could not run ppm, plugin and module installation will not work." error.
I tried creating my own using Debian image but no matter what i do i run into that specific error…
Hope anybody has an idea!

you can try this one. Its build with ARM support so that it should run on Raspberry and the most NAS Systems.
Tebans Docker Image is not Compatible with ARM Processors like that one in your NAS, it was only build for x64 Systems.

It is a little bit special because it embeds the plugins that i use already and has python support.
If you build it locally you net buildx instead of docker build, because else docker build will build a image for the hosts CPU Architekture (x64) that will not run on an ARM Processor.
Or you build it when possible direct on the target device.

i tried numerous dockers but i now know why i skipped yours, i missed the needed information for setting up the container (e.g. open ports, folder to be ‘shared’).
I tried it now and it looks stable for now, only thing i found that restart doesn’t function?

yes i know the readme is still missing, because of the same reason as always, missing time.
But as it looks i will newer add that informations because i am migration from Pimatic to Homeassistent, i struggeld a long time with this change, but i think pimatic has reached its climax. Pimatic is very good, i loved and still love it, but as time goes further the other solutions made huge steps and as it looks the pimatic development is stalled.
You can use every port you want, but the port in your config must fit the port that you publish to the outside of your container. I mean for example config port: 1234 then musst be the docker command "-p XXXX:1234"
The only folder you need is /data in the container where your config lies.
I have not tested the restart function because i am managing and restarting my containers with portainer.

Ah that explains, we’re both in the same boat.
I love Pimatic but it feels development has halted and stability is less.
I like Home-assistant but i just can not get over the size of the database after a couple of days (and this slows things down A LOT!). This is something where Pimatic is very, very superior…
And yes, i’ve tinkered with the RECORDING settings but even limiting the number of inputs still let the DB grow to ridiculous sizes (especially when compared to Pimatic)…
Ok then you are further than me, thanks for the hint with the database. I think i will step into the same pithole 
I also tried HomeAssistant various times… But i always return to Pimatic… I realy love the database logging, and easy to use GUI and trend page.
OpenHab, Domoticz,… also can’t compete with Pimatic in my opinion.
My setup now is:
All my sensors, lights,… go to a MQTT broker…
Nodered for scripting (i like the graphical programing part, and all the plugins)
Pimatic for Web interface and loging/trending. (connected to the Mqtt tags)

If only we could breed these programs, i would have Home Assitant mate with Pimatic and see what would comes out…
Looks like your image doesn’t allow me to install the TRADFRI plugin…
Unfortunately this is a show-stopper for me…
Yes this can be, because i only installed my plugins on build time and did not test the internal install mechanism before the release, but i changed nothing there that would cause such an error.
I tested it a few minutes ago on my prod system on a pi there is no such errror.
