Dimmer Tasmota (MQTT) PS-16-DZ Module

Hi,

I bought a dimmer and flashed it with Tasmota.

It works well by the web interface of Tasmota.

Then I configured the device for MQTT:


And installed a MQtt client on the raspberry pi en installed the plugin in Pimatic, all went well.

Now I want to use it with Pimatic, so I made an dummy dimmer and tried to make a rule to change the settings of the dimmer.

But I don’t understand how that rule should be.

Who can help me?

But than the question for me is, how do I configure this:

Sorry, I can only do guess work here. Maybe someone with experience in using tasmota/mqtt can fill in. According to what you have setup I’d say the
the stateTopic is "stat/sonoff/Dimmer" and the topic is "cmnd/sonoff/Dimmer". Regarding resolution the dimmer control should accept a percentage value. Thus, set the resolution to 100.

I am a little further (halfway).

Now I can change the brightness of the light from Pimatic and also switch it on and off.

But the other way does’t work yet, controling the dimmer doesn’t change the slider or switch in Pimatic.

I found out that http works, also for getting the status:

http://192.168.0.248/cm?cmnd=POWER
http://192.168.0.248/cm?cmnd=DIMMER

But getting the status with MQTT doesn’t work:

mosquitto_sub -h 192.168.0.252 -v -t stat/sonoff/POWER

But mosquitto_sub -h 192.168.0.252 -v -t tele/sonoff/LWT works!

Do I miss anything important to get this working?

@lschip I have setup a generic device for testing and investigated the case a little bit further. The problem is that the Dimmer state is not populated as single value but tasmota only populates the aggregate state which the pimatic-mqtt is not able to process as it does not support parsing of state values. Maybe @wutu has time to look into this one day. It is fairly easy to implement. See also the tasmota issue below for details.

I managed to get it working though with a tasmota rule. To be able to use rules you need to have a firmware flashed with rules support (USE_RULES) enabled. See tasmota release page for details. I have entered the following two lines to the tasmota console:

Rule1 on Dimmer#State do publish stat/sonoff/DIMMER %value% endon
Rule1 1

Following this, Dimmer state changes are populated using the stat/sonoff/DIMMER. I have a working test case with wemos D1 wired to a LED which I can control via pimatic and th tasmota web interface with correct status display in pimatic in all cases. Btw, rules and their activation status are persistent.

EDIT: In my setup I noticed that the dimmer value does not change the power state, e.g. if dimmer is set to 0 the power state remains ON. If you want to enforce the ON/OFF behaviour one way of doing this is to extend the above rule as follows:

Rule1 on Dimmer#State do publish stat/sonoff/DIMMER %value% endon on Dimmer#State==0 do Power OFF endon on Dimmer#State>0 do Power ON endon

There may be better ways of enforcing this behaviour though.

Now I start to understand moere of MQTT.

But last question. stat/sonoff/Power gives as result “ON (retain)” or “OFF (retain)”.
But to change the MQTT swicht I think I need "1"or “0”.

Can you help me with a rule for this?

I don’t think you need a rule for this as Tasmota can deal with both, 1/0, and ON/OFF. Just set the on/offMessage properties of the MqttSwitch device configuration to ON and OFF. Here is my working config:

Regarding the rule set I already said this is only one way of doing things. Tasmota provides loads of options which can be used to modify the default behaviour of the device. Tasmota provides loads of documentation, but it takes some time to familiarize with all the stuff - perhaps too much for the majority of users who are not aiming at being awarded with the Tasmota black belt.

That last question was a stupid one.

I could see it in the configuration of the Pimatic device.
