RAM Overload - Pimatic fills the Memory up

Hello There

My good old Pi2B did’nt want to work anymore (for some reason the USB/LAN chip got extremly hot) so i got Myself a new Pi3B+ on which i installed a fresh raspbian and completely new Pimatic as in the >Manual<. After the installation was finished successfully, i loaded all of the needed plugins. Then the trouble began: As soon as i configure a single device (in this case the >System sensor<), the RAM begins to fill from around 200MB to the full Capacity! Pimatic then reacts extreme slow - if it at least does anything at all. Restarting or booting lets the thing happen again the same way. Could i possibly have forgotten something while installing!?

Possibly. Do you have wiringPi installed?

Apart from this a few things to check / to do?

• Do you see loads of errors in the pimatic log?
• Did you revise the prerequisites for all the plugins?
• Did you try to track memory usage with some process monitor, e.g. top? Is it really pimatic (node process) piling up?
• Which Node.js version are you using btw? The version number is output to the pimatic log file on startup. This is to be sure there no other node.js installation on the host which might be interfering depending on how pimatic is being started. I remember we had such cases in the past.
• If the aforementioned hints are not useful my advice is to start with a minimum set of plugins including sysinfo. If that runs stable add plugins step-by-step by adding the corresponding plugin & device configuration snippets using the Configuration Editor. Note, you don’t need to add plugins with the Plugin Editor as the plugin in question will be installed automatically when you restart pimatic.

Did you have installed Pimatic-Johnny-Five?
I have also trouble with this plugin and a raspberry pi 3+,with a pi2 nothing…

EDIT 19.02.2019:
I re - installed the whole Raspberry Pi System including raspbian and Pimatic. For some reason i do’nt understand everythings working fine now! So whatever the problem has been, it’s gone now and Pimatic is running fine again.

I’ll try this later when I’ve got the time again. And yeah I’m running Pimatic with Johnny Five on a Pi3B+ since these strange thing occurs. Maybe buying a pi 2 is the fastest solution…
