Plugin / Driver for Teepao socket (TUYA API)

Hello community,

since one month there is a wifi socket available that doesn’t need additional space: https://www.amazon.de/Intelligente-Steckdose-Teepao-Funktioniert-Smartphones/dp/B07DMPN5J8

This socket could be controlled via Alexa, Google Home, IFTTT.
But unfortunately there is no possibility to control it via pimatic.

Do you have any ideas how to control it?

I sniffed some data packages, but there is no useful information because everything ist TLS 1.2 encrypted.

The only readable information I could get is this:

A portscan on the socket shows only one open port - 6668

Used Android app is “Smart Life”.

Great. With the sniffed data and the npm package from here: https://www.npmjs.com/package/tuyapi I was able to read the current status. I think it’s the right way.

If I’m right, we will get problems to get this up and running together with pimatic, because the library requires at least node v7.6

Maybe only the link library requires a higher version of node. If the linking is done via Smartphone app it could be, that the rest will still work. Hopefully!

@saxnpaule Most likely it is one of the package’s dependencies as the tuyapi code appears to be written in plain old JS.

I am wondering why the package is using “node-forge” (a Javascript implementation of TLS) for AES, base64, and hashing. Besides security concerns I think it is an overhead as the same functionality is provided by the crypto module of node.js

It would be great, if other @developer could help to implement a generic plugin for controlling switches. In my opinion we should combine the tp-link plugin and any other plugins, that extend the Switch device.

Another option is to implement a tuya plugin, that uses the tuya api and is able to control all tuya devices.

Unfortunately I don’t have much time at the moment to write the plugin completly on my own. I could do some research and quick tests, but thats all.

Great news! I got everything working.
After replacing all let and const definitions with var it works with node 4.6.2 too.

In my case the socket and the USB sockets could be switched independent by:

That’s great! For some plugin code it may be helpful to use babel to perform a script driven transformation. This way, the cloned (or copied) source code does not need to be changed and can easily be synced with future changes of the tuyapi project. See also

Hey guys
Since these smart plugs got so cheap, i bought some of them, wich are beeing controlled perfectly fine with the Google assistant. The ones I got are from the Manufacturers “Luminea” and “Fontastic” both of them can be controlled through the same app (elesion and Fontahome). Plus there’s a wifi IR remote that is able to send signals to different devices like Set top boxes or TVs.

Are there any plans on making a plugin for this cheap stuff? I would be very grateful.

Wondering if any development has been going on for the tuya based switches fun stuff!
