Play specific title on sonos ?
Dear pimatics
I would like to use my Sonos system as part of an alarm system playing a certain file (Alarm sound mp3) from my music library at a certain volume when a door or window sensor has been activated during my absence. I can see the variables current title and current artist but I am not able to integrate this into a rule. Does anybody know if this is possible.?

I use the Sonos http api to play a doorbel sound.

I use the ShellButtons device in pimatic with the following command:
curl -s "http://localhost:5005/clipall/bell.mp3/60" > /dev/null
the mp3 file is in the Sonos-http-api folder static/clips
With a rule I can trigger it when ... then press bell

So I guess the answer is “no” I cannot play a specific file from within a pimatic rule?
Well the easiest way is installing and running the http api and create this rule:
When … then execute “curl -s ‘http://localhost:5005/clipall/bell.mp3/60’ > /dev/null”
thanx sweebee but I have no idea how to install and run the http api.
Would you be willing to help me install this? 
I have just been thru an Odyssey to install a script but with help some pwer uesers finally managed to do it.
Now being able to play a certain file on my sonos at a certain volume is the missing piece to setup my home alarm system.
I would need step by step guidance…
@cherberg after looking at the github, here is a small tutorial to help you out.
I am going to assume you installed pimatic as descriped in the how to.
Every line is a seperate command.
cd /home/pi/pimatic-app
sudo git clone https://github.com/jishi/node-sonos-http-api.git
cd node-sonos*
sudo npm install --production
Installing dependencies take a while… let it sit.
sudo node server.js
Now, the API is running, surf to http://yourpimaticip:5005 for info. I dont use this, so i cant tell you how to set that up.
Thanx for the guidance, I was able to install the API and can reach the Sonos Interface as you described.
I have stored an MP3 File (Celice.mp3) in the directory /home/pi
Now when trying to setup a Rule as suggested by sweebee:
then execute “curl -s ‘http://localhost:5005/home/pi/Celice.mp3/60’ > /dev/null”
I get the error message:
Could not find an provider that provides the next action of “execute “curl -s ‘http://localhost:5005/home/pi/Celice.mp3/60’ > /dev/null””
Any suggestions?
Also when I try to execute the command:
sudo curl -s ‘http://localhost:5005/home/pi/Celice.mp3/60’ > /dev/null
via terminal nothing happens.
Not sure if this can work at all, dont I need to provide information which room the file should be played and on which volume?
@cherberg yes, it would make sense you have to define a device. I cant help you on that since i dont have a device to test it.
As for the rule, try
execute "curl -s 'http://localhost:5005/home/pi/Celice.mp3/60' > /dev/null"

Oh man, thanx so much, I was able to get it to work.
The file directory /home/pi was wrong, the mp3 has to be in the location provided by sweebee. I cannot store anything in there due to authorization issues i need to figure out. However there is a sample file already in the right location so after simply executing the installation guide you were so kind to provide and then generating a rule with
then
execute "curl -s 'http://localhost:5005/clipall/sample_clip.mp3/20' > /dev/null"
(I use Dashbuttons as triggering device for such purposes)
this then plays the file on all Sonos Speakers in my appartment at Volume 20

So I am back on this project after some time.
Basically it all works as I need it but the problem is that the API is only running as long as I have the telnet session open where I have started it with the command
sudo node server.js
Can anyone help me to let this run permanently in the background, ideally with some sort of Autostart?
I googled how to do this but the makers of the descriptions are all assuming too much Linux Knowhow which I do not have

First. If not needed don’t run processes with root privileges. (Sudo)
You can start a process with nohup to have it independent from the console. And with & to bring it to the background.
nohup node server.js &
Alternative … Here is a good
description of creating a systemd startup scripts. ( I think you can German)

Unfortunately the guide you provide is too complex for me.
I would be OK to start the API after the (rare) restart of my pimatic but your command unfortunately also does not work. When executing I get the following:

The API is not running after execution of the command.
You can check the command output in the same folder where you run the command.
cat nohup.out
With jobs
$ jobs
[1]+ Läuft nohup node server.js &
you can check if the command is running.
With fg
$ fg
bring it from background to front and you can kill it then with hotkey “ctrl+c”.
Second way:
Create this file:
/etc/systemd/system/sonoff.service
with this content:
[Unit]
Description=Simple sonoff Server
[Service]
Type=simple
User=pi
ExecStart=/usr/bin/node /home/pi/pimatic-app/node-sonos-http-api/server.js
[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target
Then activate the new service:
sudo systemctl enable sonoff.service
sudo systemctl start sonoff.service

I did not really understand option 1 but I was able to use option 2 which works like charm. The Sonos API runs in the background and is also available after restart.
