@michbeck100 i have a unexpected behavior in controlling my heating devices with my echo.
I recognize 2 problems, when i say to amazon echo, activate my heating the temperature is set to 21, but my comfy temp is 20.
The second problem is similiar, when i say to amazon echo, set my heating to 20, the temperature is set to 21. Every other temperatur works, it seems, that echo does not know the number 20.
Did someone else recognize this behavior and does know a solutions?

[pimatic-echo] Release 0.5.0

@michbeck100 I am new to pimatic, raspberry and the whole smarthome thing
I really appreciate your work, as my scenario is using Alexa to control some switches, plugs and maybe bulbs in my flat.
One thing i do not clearly understand and would like to ask to you is, why you removed WeMo Emulation from the plugin. Maybe it’s just an esthetic problem, but for me it looks quite weird that for Alexa everything is a dimmable bulb. I tried the original fauxmo script to present WeMo devices to Alexa an it worked quite well. But with your WeMo branch I didn’t get pimatic switches to work togehter with Alexa.
Before I begin writing my own workaround I would like to ask you for your motivation to focus on hue-emulation only and therefore pass on the possibility to present simple on/off devices to Alexa, which she recognizes as non-bulbs
All the best regards

@kurbel As i wrote on https://github.com/michbeck100/pimatic-echo/commit/ad14e309328ad7e706a14bfde595bd54d43234ea the wemo parts were too buggy, so i removed them. As there are still plans to implement the whole thing as real Alexa skill, you will see this again.

Hey Guys…
i got today the new Newsletter from “Whats new by Alexa”, in this Mail stands (i got this Mails in German):
“„Alexa, setz das Wohnzimmerlicht auf Orange.“
Zusätzlich der Ein-/Aus- und Dimmfunktion kann Alexa auch die Lichtfarbe Ihrer intelligenten Lampen der Marken Philips, LIFX und TP-Link steuern.”"Alexa set now the Livingroomlight to Orange"
In addition to the on / off and dimming function, Alexa can also control the light color of your Philips, LIFX and TP-Link smart lamps. And if you go to a Device in the Alexa App and press “Edit” there is the Option “Colorsetting” (Farbeinstellung), this option is at the moment by my devices set to “none”.
It looks to me like RGB Lights are now supported without a Skill, or do i missunderstand it?
-
@tehmilcho maybe Alexa supports this natively now, but this doesn’t apply to pimatic-echo without any change

@michbeck100 Yes, that’s clear, but maybe you can put this function in someday !? Because you are a nice guy with high skills

I have a strange Problem with the Echo Plugin. I use a lot Groups to manage my Devices in Alexa for example a Group for each room because if you do this and link your Alexa to this Room /Group you can use in every Room the Command “Alexa Light On” and Alexa switches by it self the Lights on in the Group (You dont have to use “Alexa Groupname on” etc).
But everytime when i add or remove or Add and Remove a Device for Alexa in Pimatic und let Alexa search for devices all my Groups are messed up, it mixes all my devices to other Groups etc -> So i must i reconfig all my Groups. Is there way to fix this?
-
@tehmilcho AFAIK are the configurations in the Alexa App nothing that i can control. Sorry

Mhh okay… my speculation wars that pimatic changes a ID of the devices or something like that because most the count of Devices in the Groups are correct but there the worng devices in it or by 3 devices in the Group is 1 Device correct and 2 are worng etc.
Thx for your Replay its anyway not that big deal, its just a littlebit annoying.
-
I’ve had that problem several times. If you change something on the devices, some things get confused and you have to let Alexa recognize the devices again after you have deleted them. This means that the groups are also lost and must be set up again. That’s annoying! I also thought that the ID would somehow be changed here.
-
@wajowi maybe there are some ids that change on every discovery, but actually they should stay the same?

@michbeck100
As ‘tehmilcho’ wrote: if you add or remove devices in Pimatic and let Alexa recognize new devices afterwards, some existing devices are addressed incorrectly. For example, instead of the light in the living room that is switched in the kitchen. You have to delete all devices from the Alexa app (and thus also the groups) and then let them all be recognized again (and recreate the groups) so that everything works again.
-
@wajowi I do not delete all, i just go on Alexa.amazon.de and check all my Groups and set the Devices correct again. Than i remove the Alexa assignment the Groups and set them new because if i dont do this “Alexa Lights on” will not work.
-
@tehmilcho
I currently have 91 Alexa devices (Pimatic, Hue, ioBroker,…). It is easier to delete and redetect all of them than to check and correct them.Because as I said, some devices are incorrectly controlled afterwards.

Hey guys, iam interested in this Echo plugin… Can somebody tell me if it will be some further developments here?
Iam using an Echo Plus, and unfortunately it is not working (as it is told in readme, i know) So are there some plans to integrate the newer devices?THANK YOU
-
@harrysteff No, there won’t be more than bugfixes for pimatic-echo. The next will be an pimatic Alexa skill. This is something I’m working on currently. But it still takes some time.
If you want pimatic-echo to work you can buy an Echo Dot and then you can use the plugin from your Echo plus, too.pimatic-hap - pimatic HomeKit bridge
