Hardware request for ubuntu based PiMatic installation

Hi,

I’m new to this topic.
Because of some reasons, I don’t want to buy a Pi to run PiMatic. At home I have a running Ubuntu based linux server running.
Now my question, to control switches with 433 MHz I need a hint for a good USB receiver.
At a later point I will also control EQ-3 radiator thermostats, that means I also need a 868 MHZ receiver.

You need the exact same hardware as used for a pi.
Buy a 433 Mhz RF superheterodyne sender and receiver on ebay and a Arduino Nano. Flesh the nano with the homeduino code and connect to your ubuntu server.

For EQ3 you may need to build a CUL clone. Unfortunately CUL is not supported with Homeduino.

Sorry for the late reply. I was in the hosital and not able to answer
I’m more the software than the hardware guy. I’m not sure, if I was able to handle arduino or something like this.
I read the link with the recommended receivers/ transmitters and I found this USB Dongle
Has anyone experience with the used chipset?

with this tutorial you are able to create your 433mhz transmitter.
just give it a try! you will see it’s a lot of fun
if you face any problems, just ask here on the forum.
which hardware / 433mhz switches do you want to use?

@phartz For Q3 Max you can just use the Max Cube(the offical hub from q3 max, costs ~30euro) with the Pimatic Plugin https://pimatic.org/plugins/pimatic-max/

@leader21 I think I will give it a try… It’s a long time ago I was working with more hardware related stuff. I remember the time I used to program eeproms. And I learned to hate it after a while
