Manually backup pimatic database, config.json and plugins

Hello Pimatic friends,

I have a problem. My SD card has died. Well, half way.

With Win32 DiskImager I can not make an image. The process dies after about 10%. BUT. I can save all my data via Ext2Explore.

Now to my question. I created an image when Pimatic was fresh on the SD card. Network Config etc. but no plugins etc.

I have now created 20 different sensors, several plugins and so on.

How can I best push back a backup or data from Pimatic WITHOUT Win32?

Just copy the folder pimatic-app? And push on the new SD card.

Does it work ?

I hope someone can help me. The data of the last six months would be very important to me. Solar Thermie, PV yield. That can not all be over now?

I only backup the config.json.
Flash a new SD card with Raspbian, install pimatic(don’t run it) and place your old config.json (and DB), restart and get some coffee.

I recommend to store backups on a secondary device, e.g. an USB stick attached to the Raspberry Pi. If you want to created a full backup the backup file should not be stored on the SD card

I send my config,json by email through rules every sunday night. There is also a button that fires a rule to mail the config.json
Whenever I’m doing a lot of changes/testing I use that button a few times.

Can you explain how you do that. Which plugin do you use? Simply the email plugin I guess?

Yes, just the mail plugin.

Mail config backup
WHEN it is 0:00 and it is sunday THEN send mail to:"backup@tld.com" subject:"Pimatic config backup" file:"/home/pimatic/pimatic-app/config.json" from:"backup@tld.com" text:"See attached backup"

Mail config on request
WHEN MailConfig button is pressed THEN send mail to:"backup@tld.com" subject:"Pimatic config backup on request" file:"/home/pimatic/pimatic-app/config.json" from:"backup@tld.com" text:"See attached backup"

Thanks Ive done it already. First I had to unterstand how the mail plugin was working. Then the typical gmail problems had to be solved but now everything works fine. Button and Rule

Thats a simple solution for sending the config to your mail after each new tested configuration.
