Update issue Pimatic v0.9.40

I’m having some serious issues updating pimatic 0.9.40 to the latest version.
Also, I cannot install any plugins anymore because these result in the same error as when updating my plugins and pimatic.
The following error occurs:

sudo npm install -g spdx-license-ids

@Gleno0h i’ve tried that already. Then the error is almost the same except the module name; “./request” can’t be found then…

Which node/npm version do you have?

@marvandorth i guess your npm and/or node is failing which would require a re-install.

Did you wait for the update to finish or did you cancel it?

It possibly can be done without a full re-install. Executing the steps described in my previous post should do.

Tried your steps above… Same effect ( Cannot find module ./request )
So this doesn’t work unfortunately.
Node version: v4.6.2
NPM version: v2.15.11

I didn’t cancel the update. It cancels itself and spews out errors…

@marvandorth ok so the first time you were updating it canceled itself.

Could you post all your log’s? Maybe we can find out where it went wrong. Still consider to reinstall npm…

Logs i want to see are in /home/pi/pimatic-app/

Post them as txt file cause they are probably very long

If you can tell me how to properly install npm again I’m fine with that…
Searched the internet but it seems none of them work as supposed

@marvandorth well, i would still like to see a log file. If you dont post any debug we cant guide you. Please execute sudo pimatic.js and post every single line. Not just the error message, full log.

I want to see if you use root, which plugin is loading when error pops up etc

Also, do you use pimatic-angular plugin?

No I am not using Angular, just the normal mobile frontend.

First things first, this error COULD explain every following error;

11:29:32.769 [pimatic, ppm] Error: Cannot find module 'npm'

Which could mean that your node path isnt right.

Please try this command and restart pimatic, again, post log;

sudo npm install npm@latest -g

-g means Global, this should fix the first problem, maybe all.

Seems to not show anything, it is a blank line

sudo cp -r /home/pi/pimatic-app/config.json /home/pi

sudo rm -r /usr/local/bin/node /usr/local/bin/npm /usr/local/lib/node_modules

Check that it is gone with;

sudo node -v

Then reinstall node;
For Pi Model A, B, B+ or Zero:

sudo wget https://nodejs.org/dist/v4.6.2/node-v4.6.2-linux-armv6l.tar.gz -P /tmp

cd /usr/local

sudo tar xzvf /tmp/node-v4.6.2-linux-armv6l.tar.gz --strip=1

For Pi 2 Mode B or Pi 3 Model B

sudo wget https://nodejs.org/dist/v4.6.2/node-v4.6.2-linux-armv7l.tar.gz -P /tmp

cd /usr/local

sudo tar xzvf /tmp/node-v4.6.2-linux-armv7l.tar.gz --strip=1

Now

/usr/bin/env node --version

Should say 4.6.2

Try again…

Node version is v.4.6.2 after deletion as you described above.
What’s next? :’)
Because pimatic.js doesn’t work anymore?!
