Question about physical button

Hey guys…

first of all i´m sorry for my bad english and then i want to thank everyone on the development team - pimatic is really great!

I want to build a “buzzer” wifi button with an Arduino nano or the ESP8266 … however this button should control some of the pimatic devices. So my question is: Is this possible and how?

I´m not looking for an exact and polished how to but if this is not possible I don’t want to buy the hardware.

Buy an Amazon dash button - I know you don’t want to buy anything but the dash button is the cheapest(Germany 2€ plus 5€ voucher), easiest way to realize your button.

If you still want to build it by yourself use mqtt-plugin and Google for the sketch

There is also a very nice solution provided by @koffienl named pimatic. But I don’t know if it supports hardware switches or buttons. Perhaps it can easily be implemented…

Thank you all for your replies. I have already Dash Buttons in my Environment and it works Fine - Not perfect but fairly good enough for me.

But in this case I want a Button which looks like a buzzer so a dash Button is Not the solution …

@bigchb i would go for a nodemcu v2/3. I do think you have to create the sketch itself.

Connect the buzzer to a gpio and read the state with your sketch.

Something like

if (buttonState == LOW) {
Serial.println("Buzzer pressed, enabled devices");
}

Then you can call the pimatic api to turn the device(s) on.

Google for “create a dash button esp8266” and you should get a lot of interesting articles on how to build a dash button thingy, which of course, you can integrate into the buzzer housing. Here is one of the better documented projects:
https://github.com/garthvh/esp8266button. Instead of the Sparkfun board another board (NodeMCU or Wemos) should be applicable, too
