RF Hardware directly conected to GPIO pins with Homeduino is not working

Hello,

i’m trying to get a rf transmitter and receiver running via the homduino plugins. The receiver and transmitter is directly connected to the GPIO Pins of the Raspberry. But unfortunately i can’t get it working. Perheaps someone can help me…

At first I do not get any debug messages in my frontend. In the logfile i can find some massages but not of receiving data…
==> I have placed a TFA Dostmann 30.3125 weatherstation directly beside to the receiver.

Hardware Setup
Receiver:

• Superheterodyne RXB6 433 Mhz (without antenna)
• GND connected to -3.3V
• VCC connected to +3.3V
• Data connected to GPIO 24 (WiringPi) or BCM Pin 19

Transmitter:

• XY-FST (cheap and might be poor sender)
• GND connected to -5.0V
• VCC connected to +5.0V
• Data connected to GPIO 23 (WiringPi) or BCM Pin 13

Just a quick note and if you are going to depend on pimatic later on; get a arduino nano to run the homeduino or even better, ESpimaticRF((wifi rf)search forum). Thank me later

Please try to swap the pins first before getting into your kernel. Also, kernel 4.9x is an issue i believe, not 4.4x.

Although, i do think you need to downgrade wiringpi, but please try other pins first.

Wiringpi 2.32 is what i have and what works for sure.

• @Gleno0h: I changed the wiring set up but this didn’t solve the problem.
• I tried to send a signal with a homeduinoswitch. But this signal is also not recognized by the receiver. The output seems to be okay.

@Gleno0h I’m on a business trip and hadn’t the time before. But thanks for asking. I’ll give it a try the next days and give you feedback.

After a long time I had a look into this again and realized that there have been some log entries by homeduino without changing anything since the last post (WiringPi is still version 2.44). So perhaps it just has been a loose contact.

But at last, the received data are very unstable.

• For one hour only the ping info is logged in an intervall of 5 minutes. So what does this ping info mean?
• Then there is the first logged info at 20:53:55.866 [pimatic-homeduino] debug: weather17: { id: 75, channel: 0, temperature: 25.7 }. So if I want to log these data into a HomeduinoWeatherStation device then I have to use the id: 75 and the channel: 0 ? But where is the humidity info from this device (TFA Dostmann 30.3125 weatherstation)?

perhaps @Gleno0h you have a good idea or can help me out getting this to work reliably?

@Fabian improper receiving could have a number of reasons. It would be great if you downgtade wiringpi and then see if anything changes.

As to why it doesnt receive the humidty, i dont know. Could also be a receiving problem.

Untill you downgrade to a known working wiringpi, i cant help you out.

As for figuring out what kind of weatherstation you need, just let pimatic do it for you with auto-discovery.

Homeduino PING is normal.
Only thing bothering me is the “unknown state”.

first of all the error Unhandled rejection Error: unknown state=""! is a problem of a script which I use to get the wifi-strength of my Belkin Wemo Switch (Wifi Switch). I can’t get rid of this error by now but this shouldn’t be a bigger problem.

I downgraded wiringpi to your recommended version 2.32

Perhaps there will be some logs over night. I have placed the weatherstation directly beside to the rf-receiver to make sure that there is no distance problem.

Could you show me your wiring?

I just checked the receiver by a borrowed rf remote. The received data are a bit unstable but if I do not press to shortly homeduino recieves some singals constantly. Even if I’m in other room the receiver can detect the signals.

Also detecting the device automatically by pimatic has been successfull. The Device is a Unitec rf-swich which is also working very well after setting up a homduino-switch.

I can also post a picture of my set-up later. But there are so many things applicated to the spredboard that it will be hard to see the connections. I’m also wondering why should the switch work but the weather station not…

@Fabian maybe your weatherstation isnt 433mhz?

If it is, it should pick it up… Link to weatherstation?

The weather station is supported by pimatic and it is 433 MHz. I really don’t know what should be wrong. Also I can see every minute a little symbol indicating a datatransfer on the display. Even though the data transmitting range should be wide I do not get any signals.

@Fabian ive looked around and it seems to be sending out its temperature twice in an hour.

I believe you said you got incosistent data/data loss.

However, i want you to create a device with those credentials.

Create a device, weather17 protocol, id 75 channel 0. Does it update after some time?

Simple reason that auto discovery isnt working is probably because it doesnt send anything…

In cases like this it would have been perfect if we could set our own auto discovery time…

Hi,

these are the lonly two detected values in the last 4 days. Migth be that my device is broken. Is there a posibility to test this?

Or does some other device owners ( @Frank_71 or @Marco-de-Abreu) have an idea, why the TFA 30.3125 is not working?
