Empty config file prevents starting pimatic

Hello,
Some time ago I’ve restarted pimatic from the plugins menu. When it didn’t came back after a while, I’ve checked what was wrong and found out the config file is empty. After restoring a backup file it worked again.
This happened a couple of times already.

Any idea what can be the cause of this?

Not an answer to your questions, but I have experienced something like that in the past. I don’t know if there has been a fix for this, but I haven’t had an empty config file since december

Also happened to me with one of my test setups. So, the sketched solution to make it more robust by keeping the prior version in a backup file (or possibly write changes to temporary file first) is definitely which should be implemented.

I’ve read that topic and it is similar, though in that case there has been an unexpected power off/reboot. In this case it wasn’t unexpected.

I agree with @mwittig and hope this can be implemented soon.

By the way if you want me to debug it let me know (it happened a couple of times so I expect it will occur again).

never happened to me yet. you can make a backup rule for your config to save it eg. every day at midnight like WHEN it's 0:00 THEN execute "cp /home/pi/pimatic-app/config.json config.json.backup
also there is backup of the config made by pimatic itself each start.

I’m making backups so never lost data.

This issue is now occuring each time I exit pimatic. Is it something related to my installation?
Can I debug something to see where it goes wrong?

that’s strange!! is there something in the pimatic-daemon.log ?
you can tail it and check if there are strange reports

The problem disappeared for a while but returned yesterday.
These are the lines of the log file around that time. I have the feeling it has to do with the error message from kodi during exiting, but I can be wrong off course.
