ESPimatic with bistabil Relays?

Is it possible to change code of espimatic in such a way that one can use bistabil Relays? Like this.
The contacts this Relays hold the switch state after them were operated.
So it needs only one short flash to switch.
Hence, it would save electricity.

And if one could use then one more Pin as a tracer, this would be to be used a good combination around then ESPimatic as a Multiway switching as traveler system . In connection with a wall push-button.

A problem would maybe be which the ESP puts by a new start the GPIO Pin briefly on high?

I don’t understand what exactly is your plan to connect it.
The Relay “G5RLU1AEDC5” you pointed on is with only 1 coil and only 1 contact.
That means:

1. you can’t use it for multiway switching because it is only one closing contact.
2. you need to change polarity of the coil to switch to the other state, whats not easy to implement with only one ESP output pin. Could use a second ouput but you need a driver as the 5V output is not a direct connection.

Of course you could use one of the other relays, like G5RL-K1-E or -K1A-E but still difficult to find out the actual switching state of the relays.

And be serious for saving power, this is nonsens isn’t it? For an output device you need continous power to react in short time, so the ESP needs power anyway.

Maybe I missunderstood your idea, then please let me know. I’m very intrested in this topic because I already did a lot of different switching systems myself and still couldn’t find cheap a 100% solution.

Sorry, I have given the wrong Relays for multiway switching.
I think this (Omron G6AK-274P-ST-US 5 VDC) is a better choice.

Maybe you are right that it does not save particularly a lot of electricity.
But with multiway switching therelays would also be on unanimously if the lamp off.
However, it would nicely be use a normal wall switch (in the case a Push button) to turn the light . And to be able to switch this also with ESPimatic.

So the idea with the Relay and Multiway switching as traveller system.
And ESPimatic functions well and runs solidly.

You are right, the actual status of the relay is bad to recognise, for ESP and pimatic.

And one can use a switch contact of the Relays for a status announcement. For the circuit of the light only one contact is required.
