PIN-Locked switches

Hello, I would be quite happy to see an option for locking a Switch with a pin, so only if you enter a e.g. 4-digit PIN, the state of the switch changes.

Background behind that is:
If someone opens my front door, a sensor tells an alarm bell to go off in 30 seconds. In this 30 seconds either Pimatic is able to ping my phone or, in case i come home with no battery or some sort of connection problem appears, you can stop this alarm timer on a screen next to my door. A red light, existing only for this purpose, is indicating, that the timer is active and it turns off when either the timer is deactivated or my phone is pinged.

So if a thief comes to my house and eventually is interested in the screen next to my door, it would be a no-time-thing to deactivate the alarm, even if i name it something like “Wardrobe Light”

So a Pin-locked switch gives me the opportunity to deactivate the alarm but not some sort of intruders. Would be great. Cheers

a little work-around could be the variable input device.
if you put the variable as string the field looks like:

you could name the device maybe like heating-kitchen and the variable heatingkitchenvar so just you know the really function of this field…
and in you rule you could set something like

when $heatingkitchenvar is "1234" then disable the alarm

There are versions fully compatible with Wiegand protocol. Hardware the keypad to the pi (or use a ESP) and if the correct key or code is used you can stop the countdown.

with homeduino you are able to use a keypad. maybe this could be an option too.

Why not use a nfc tag in combination with tasker?

This is a good way to secure it too since only you have the tasker command.

I am still looking for a good solution to use Pimatic also as an alarmsystem.
But it has to be possible to arm and disarm the alarmsystem in a secure way.

Solutions on the smartphone don’t work for me, I don’t want install/configure thing on Phones of other family members.

So I see some other solutions:

Earlier mentioned is to be asked for a code whe I use a switch in the Pimatic GUI. And depending on that code (with a rule) I can do an action (right code: switch on/off, wrong code: wait one second and do nothing, Special code: silent alarm).

Use a physical keyboard somewhere.
I wouldn’t use 433Mhz devices, it is possible to catch that code from the air and use it when you want. But with an ESP8266 I see possibilities.
This solution doesn’t need changes or additional functionality of Pimatic.

Maybe there are other suggestions.

I realy would like the first possibility. Is this something for the feature list?

My parents use a dashbutton to arm/disarm the alarm.

But everyone can push that button. That is not how I want to do it…

I dont think it should be added as a native feature. This can be simply done with a plugin, maybe that could be your first project to develop a plugin.

Having a GPIO based key-lock is the safest way i think. Besides a real nasty dog.

Yes, 433mhz can be intercepted, so that would be a no-go. WiFi is also a no-go, altough a bit safer.

Still, having a pin code still allows for the lights, alarm etc to be intercepted, if they are 433mhz…

Writing an plugin, I wouldn’t know how to begin. I’m afraid that woul be to hard for me.

A wired keyboard is also not the way to go for me, I think wifi could be pretty safe. But I actualy don’t want a separate physical keyboard, thats why a pincode on a switch device could be a solution for me.

But if I am the only one with this wish I either have to write such a pluging myself (maybe ever) of accept it’s not there…

An alternative solution would be a special push sequence with a 4 button switch. Maybe: up down up left -> disable alarm.
This is better than a hidden single disable button and easy to realize with the existing wireless plugins.
