Arduino - Which is the best?

hi guys,

last year i started to set up my pimatic devices. now i think my arduino is broken. i bought some fake-arduino last year.
now my question: i want to buy a new one. but which is the best one for playing around with the 433mhz devices?

have someone experiences with the originals and maybe a link to amazon for me?

I’d recommend a WeMos D1 mini V2 or Pro: it is a lot faster (32bit 80/160MHz), has wifi, is dirt-cheap, has nice shields, great community/support. Off course it can be programmed via the Arduino IDE.

but had the problem that the raspberry don’t mount it as device on boot. so everytime i had to reboot the Nano…

Are we talking about the same???
An arduino is definitely not the same as an esp8266 (the Wemos).
And an esp8266 can’t “talk” with 433 MHz devices.

depending on what you want to do you just need a simple arduino nano. i am using the ones with ch340 chipset since they worked flawlessly here. the other chipset is the ftdi that you shoukd take if using multiple arduinos on one raspberry.

harry is right - you can’t compare an arduino with a wemos. but rene is also right, for tinkering around with wifi sensors you sure can use the wemos with either espeasy or espimatic since it is an esp8266 wifi soc.

if you just want to receive your weather stations data or switch some 433mhz rf sockets you surely should buy a simple arduino nano for a few bucks, flash the homeduino sketch and be happy
you need the rf hardware, we recommend the 3400rf kit with the rxb6 receiver.

Same for me.

What I actually tried to mention is that virtually everything that can be done with an arduino, can also be done with an ESP. With the added benefit that an ESP is quite a lot faster. As far as I know there is a homeduino suited for ESP as well.
Though I think Kai might be easier off with a cheap arduino for now, indeed

yes rene, there is a rf gateway based on homeduino but only for rf receiving.
sending has not yet been implemented yet. there’s still lots of work to do for that.

there has been a proof of concept by @koffienl on that and i know about plans for implementing this into ESPimatic v0.2 at that time.

I bought the arduino which @leader21 mentioned.
but now i’m very interested: what is an esp and what can i do with it?

basically the esp is a soc with integrated wifi
you can use it similar as an arduino

for pimatic there are 2 very fine esp integrations available.
the first one is especially developed by our member koffienl only for use with pimatic and is named ESPimatic
the other one is the well known espeasy firmware which has recently also a pimatic integration available.
