depending on what you want to do you just need a simple arduino nano. i am using the ones with ch340 chipset since they worked flawlessly here. the other chipset is the ftdi that you shoukd take if using multiple arduinos on one raspberry.
harry is right - you can’t compare an arduino with a wemos. but rene is also right, for tinkering around with wifi sensors you sure can use the wemos with either espeasy or espimatic since it is an esp8266 wifi soc.
if you just want to receive your weather stations data or switch some 433mhz rf sockets you surely should buy a simple arduino nano for a few bucks, flash the homeduino sketch and be happy 
you need the rf hardware, we recommend the 3400rf kit with the rxb6 receiver.
but as i understand, you are having all that stuff already but your arduino is broken.
just as i said, go for a simple arduino nano with ch340 chip. never had problems.
