Email receive event

Hello,
is it possible to use a received email as an Input Event?
S.th. like:
If Email with Subject is received, do s.th.?

I think there are several, console script’s which are doing this (Receive an Email and set a LED or so).
But is there a way in pimatic directly?

Or did i need to run such a script and set a variable/pin or so?

This is currently not supported, but, generally, it is possible. The problem with that is, however, there are different protocols which need to supported to support all possible cases, i.e. IMAP, POP3, local inbox served by a local mail server. If it is good enough to support IMAP, it may possible to build on existing packages such as mail notifier - https://github.com/jcreigno/nodejs-mail-notifier. The advantage of IMAP is that youd don’t need a local copy of the “inbox”.

well, if you can’t wait and if you’re a bit into python this could be a good starting point…
I would start with getting the subject line from the email, and setting a variable in Pimatic using the Pimatic API via curl…

There are already a few topics about telegram, like the latest from @Stokstaart here.
You can also create a telegram bot on your pimatic server (or another server in your network) allowing you to send commands from telegram to your telegram bot, which can forward it via a shell, python, perl, ruby or whatever script to your pimatic.
