@incmve Looks great! Are you planning to share the whole project at some point? I am curious about how you plan to use the dot matrix display. Do you use the two segments to display floating full size symbols, e.g. symbols floating from right to left?

Here’s what I am building for my new house, I am planning to have almost all the house working with, pimatic, light control, some plugs, alarm, door access, heating, some sensors, and some other crazy but functional ideas.
For the lights I am planning to have a manual backup alternative if pimatic fails, or ex. arduino board breaks. This manual backup consist in putting for each light circuit a 2-way switch conected to the relay (that acts as another 2-way switch, even if everything is down/broken/shutdown (arduino, raspberry…) will work
I am not an expert, just learning!!!
So I wish to have some opinions from all of you!!!

nice! sounds like a huge project. but keep in mind that Pimatic still has BETA status. This especially mentioned 'cause you want to control heating. (as far as you meant your central heating … If steering the radiators with max! it’s ok, no life danger )
regarding your backup for the light switches, you could take a look at the intertechno itl 230 switches. those are RF receiver switches AND can be switched manually with a common wall switch.
but that requires a good rf sending range depending where your sender is placed. but usually receiving is more problematic.pimatic v0.9 has been released!

I buid also a backlight for my tv. The project is called hyperion. There are some good howtos on the german Raspberry Pi Forum.
Currently it is running on a separate raspberry B+, which is automatically turned on by pimatic if the TV is on and the sun goes down. My plan is to integrate it on the raspberry 2 where pimatic runs.

Yes you are right it can be very expensive. The price you have to pay is dependent on the existing hardware . In best case you need only the Grabber (5,67€) and the LED Strip (WOW 18€ for 5m I pay 60 a half year ago)
So if you own a raspberry and a sat- or AV-Reciver with AV-out then you can realize this for less as 25€ -
@magic-tune are you think the 30 led per meter are enough? how much distance you have with your tv to the wall?

what you see on the pics and in the video is a lpd8806 strip with 32 LEDs/m on a 55’ tv with 4,5 cm distance to the wall. I have a second TV with 9,5 cm distance. The illumination area is mutch bigger. I’m satisfied with both. I think the difference between 32 and 30 is not so big and 30 LEDs/should be enough for a big tv. -
@magic-tune Looks great! I also made a DIY Ambilight this way, using hyperion as well. It switches automatically between TV input (via SCART grabber) and Kodi input. I’ve been experimenting with controlling hyperion via the HTTP JSON interface via pimatic. I’m currently able to control colors and effects from pimatic. Have you done anything like that as well?
It would be awesome to be able to have a bit better configuration options, which can be read via the hyperion JSON interface to pimatic. -

OK, Code and hardware are a bit more functional at the the moment.
What is working:- ESP module will boot up, read wifi from memory
- If no wifi settings it will boot up in access point mode
- If wifi settings, connect to wifi - if connection fails fallback to AP
- Read temperature from DS18B20 and send to pimatic
- Receive commands over HTTP (currently : dim LED matrix, enable or disable LED matrix, force update of temp, reboot ESP).

Hi all,
I have a question about those attiny85 with the pir sensor. I see a transmitter type fs1000a and That’s a 5 volt transmitter while you are powering it with max 3 volt. Isnt that to low for this transmitter or do I have to use an other transmitter.
