Hey Guys!
Having another restless night and what’s better to pass one’s time than tinkering around with Pimatic
The quest has been to control my Denon AVR-X1100W AV receiver with Pimatic. @karl78 gave the missing link to get things started, thanks again!
And what should I say - lets show it up :

Maybe it’s a little bit “crammed”, but if you want to control the AVR thouroughly you will need at least these buttons.
As I am listening to a lot of music from my archive, it was important to me to show the track and artist information. This you can see at the last three rows on the right. The left side shows a picture of the album cover if provided by the mp3 file (I LOVE THE IFRAME PLUGIN )

When switching to iRadio mode, what actually the internet radio mode is, you will see a little different information like Artist and Station name as well as the radio station logo if provided :

Well, I’m quite satisfied with it, but still it’s very hard to navigate the AVR without any display.

For all of you who are interested - here’s the code (used Pastebin since it’s a lot of stuff ) :

Also create a variable for the volume slider (for explanation see here)

The protocol is covering many other Denon AVR receivers with ethernet connection, it’s not only for the x1100! Also Marantz receivers are suppored!
So feel free to tinker around with it and create your own Pimatic Denon or Marantz AVR Control!

Latest update - implemented a status bar and changed some buttons / layout.
Codework provided at pastebin in the above threat.
Just edit your IP and copy / paste to your config.

improved the remote a little more with a volume slider

here’s the code :

Then create a variable like that :

That’s it! Add your slider to the GUI as usual and have fun with it.

Just to explain the expression of the variable $denon-mastervolume
round(($denon-volume-slider.dimlevel * 0.5),0)
the variable will be calculated from the dimlevel of the slider and then multiplied with 0.5 (or diveded by 2 if you want so ). This prevents, that the variable $denon-mastervolume will be set to 80 or above when sliding the dimmer bar to the full right. This might damage your speaker and your ears as well and not to mention your neighbors ^^
The variable will be rounded to an integer since the variable will be used at the rule to set the volume level - and the denon only accepts whole numbers as input and no decimal digits.
You can surely change the expression of the variable to fit the limitation to your needs if you want to have it louder when sliding to the outer right.

furthermore i added a button to copy the title that’s running at the radio station to a file.
that’s a good thing when listening to music and you want to check later for that title.

For that you just need to add the button and a rule like that :

I’m using raspbmc and had to install curl manually to make it work.
Besides pimatic-iframe and pimatic-shell-execute had to be added to the config

But how is the iFrame loaded? I did not find any rule and I have no display.

the iframe is only “loaded” if there’s an image file provided from the avr.
try to play some internet radio station. usually there’s the station logo displayed.
or if you play a mp3 file with album information included this should be displayed too.
if there’s no image provided, the iframe unfortunately looks something like that

the iframe itself will reload every 10 seconds. have a look at the device code - “reload” : 10

Hm, I get no iFrame. I use the same Rock Antenne sender. But no picture appears.
And another little bug: If the volume is ‘0’, there is an error, because in XML the volume ist declared as ‘–’.

Unhandled rejection Error: Expected variable denon-volume-status.denonvolstate to have a numeric value.

the iframe is working good. what you can try is to check the ipadress where the picture is stored in your browser like below.

which avr do you use (and on which system do you work - pi a, b, 2 or another one?
maybe there’s another path to to picture.
another issue could be that the request times of the status bars is too short (like get volume or get the album / title info etc.). could be that the avr blocks the network connection due to too much traffic then. but just a suggestion since all is working flawlessly here.

regarding the volume i have a solution that i forgot to mention … sorry!! mea culpa!

create a new rule :
IF $denon-volume-slider.dimlevel < 20 THEN execute "curl -s http://192.168.178.67/goform/formiPhoneAppDirect.xml?MV0$denon-mastervolume"

dimlevel < 20 'cause i limited the volume to max 50. so dimlevel 20 is volume level 10.
if the volume will now be under 10, the rule will set a 0 in front of the volume variable and send it to the avr.
try this and i am sure the volume issue is solved

Thanks, I will try this.
But at volume level 0 the return is “–”. A leading zero won’t fix the missing numeric value in the return. Or am I wrong?
I didn’t use sour volume-slider but the native plugin. The error is when interpreting the answer.

good question if a leading zero will fix it with the native plugin. which one do you use?
maybe @mwittig or @SaxnPaule can help, depending on the plugin.

I haven’t tried this, but I think for AVR which support absolute volume control, the value 00 is the minimal volume to be set. The protcol specification is a bit midsleading with respect to this, in my opinion. If you have other findings please let us know. Please also let us know which receiver you’re using.

The spec for Denon says that 99 is mute, so I implemented a range from 0 - 98 and add one leading zero if necessary. The mute command isn’t interpreted yet by my plugin. I have no possibility to test it. Because of that someone with a Denon AVR should implement the responsible controller. I only implemented volume up/down for Denon atm. It will be very easy to implement, because the code should be self explaining.

But a numeric is exspected. The plugin has to accept -- as volume level and has to interpret it as 0!
The error is in the shell sensor because here is a numeric value required which is not received.

However, it is strange, the receiver is returning “–”. I haven’t seen that during my tests for pimatic-denon-avr. If I set MV to 00 my AVR prompts MV00. Which AVR model do you have?

I have the AVR-x1000

Now I have realized that the shellsensor makes this issue. So it will be difficult to handle with this wrong return.
