Hi Guys,
Just wanted to share my latest project: Wi-Fi enabled curtains.
It’s build with a Photon from particle.io.
This is just a prototype but I’m going build a bigger version later.

nice work!
reminds me of a cinema curtain.
when you’re done with prototyping, would you share your project/code with us?

make it so !
@leader21 Yeah sure! At the moment I’m using magnet sensors to determine if the curtains are open or closed. Maybe I should change it so that it will stop depending on the power consumption of the motor would make the implementation a lot easier…
Alright guys, finished this project! It’s now in my home and controlled via Pimatic.

Really like that!
Just the loud noise isn’t that nice. But I guess this is just some tweaking.
So how did u end up verifying if the curtains are closed or open? What elements did you use?
@georg90 The noise is something that still needs some tweaking yeah… But not really important to me. I’ll park that for later .
I used two magnet reed sensors, one in the middle of the curtain and one at the end. Then I attached a magnet to the rubber band (which is powered by the motor) if the magnet makes contact with one of the two sensors I’ll know the position. I also added a thirth state which is undefined. The motor automatically shuts down after 10 seconds so if it’s stuck it won’t overheat.
