I want to set up a webcam with livestream over http for integration in an iframe in the pimatic frontend. The problem is - I have NO idea how to do this.
Is the a howto for this setting or can anybody help me with this problem?

USB webcam livestream

@Gargoyle we are still looking into this feature meanwhile maybe pimatic-links can fit the bill for you.
Pimatic, smart home made by smart folks, for the rest of us!
-
@Gargoyle you can vote also for this feature here http://forum.pimatic.org/topic/12/device-that-shows-a-iframe-with-an-external-webpage (see here to know how to vote http://forum.pimatic.org/topic/10/feature-voting/3)

If you have a little knowledge of html/css and you can set up a livestream is quite easy to do with pimatic-links and use the iframe option.
Can you get a livestream from you webcam?

Thats the first problem. I can’t get motion to run properly. It says it started, but no stream or pictures…
-
@Gargoyle hey i can help on motion if you need.
My first question is : are you using a raspberry?
If yes, i strongly recommend you this post http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=75240 and using this specific version of motion (you will get much better results)pimatic rocks!

@Yves911 Yes, I use the Raspberry Pi B+ and a Creative USB Webcam.
I will try MMAL and give reply some time later on. -
@Gargoyle wait a minute motion-mmal is for rasp + picam so it’s not applicable for usb webcam

Could you post your motion config?
grep -v '^#\|^;' motion.conf | grep '[a-z]'

I get pictures with fswebcam but I didn’t manage to get motion to run properly.
Any ideas/help or a howto for installing motion in a proper way? -
@Gargoyle you can simply install it using apt-get install motion
then the most important is to keep the default configuration and change width and height to small values 128? (but be careful you need to have a certain ration between these both parameters, i can’t remember for now but a quick check on google can confirm that…)pimatic rocks!

they have to be multiples of 16?

Maybe this tutorial can help http://sjj.azurewebsites.net/?p=701
Tell me if you need help somewherepimatic rocks!

@Yves911 Thanks, motion is up and running. Only problem, since motion is running I get no more data from my DHT22 sensors… but I think this is a coincidence. I will try a fresh installation on my Pi tomorrow, so my geckos can sleep tonight…
Is there some sort of tuning for motion, since the CPU load is quite high?
-
@Gargoyle I remember a trouble with 1wire module together with other things (can you try a rpi-update?).
About CPU usage, yes motion is really using CPU the best thing to do is to move to a picam* (no USB cam) you will get:- much better picture
- some optimization with motion-mmal (GPU will be used in // of the CPU and it will use let’s say a 128*128 image for detection and a full res to save your pictures)
* EDIT : about picam is much better than a webcam, it’s similar to the cam of a mid range smartphone. You can find some chinese clone for about 15€ but the one from the foundation is a bit better (and from the foundation : so no surprise!)

already did the rpi-update, also apt-get update and upgrade - no change…
-
@Gargoyle can you post output of lsmod?

Problem with your DHT22 sensor is maybe from upgrade to last raspbian ?
