I’m not fluent in javascript but I have begun to study and learn. I would like to see a status indicator similar to the ping plugin but able to display a color provided in a hex format through a variable.

@jusplainmike May be you can describe your requirements in some more detail, please. Also, a sketch of what you envisage might be helpful (if you prefer, just draw it on a piece of paper and take a photo).
Just thinking … would it be sufficient to have color status indicator using preset colors which you may then change by using a custom CSS? For example, a on-off inidicator with a green or red dot, or a tri-state with red, yellow, or green dot.

Then I could use rules and variables to send hex colors through the RestAPI.
Also I realize the code may not match up to my graphics.
