Is there a way to get data from a variable outside of pimatic?

Depends what you want to do with it. You could use a rule and write the variable to a log file every X minutes.
Another option would be to extract it out of the database, but I guess the rule thing would be the easiest wayThe rule could look something like this
IF every 1 minutes THEN execute "echo $ dht11.value 》temp.log"

I think you want the value of a envirnmont variable into pimatic? In that case, use a ShellSensor:
{ "id": "sysvar", "name": "sysvar", "class": "ShellSensor", "attributeName": "sysvar", "attributeType": "number", "attributeUnit": "", "command": "linux command to echo value", "interval": 15000 },

The shellsensor should work didn’t think of that. What I was wanting to do was interact with my transmission-daemon service. I think I figured out a way using the API to update a variable inside pimatic. Thanks for the help!
