I currently use ifttt.com to trigger certain actions on various pimatic devices, like the FritzBox guest wlan or change temperature on a Thermostat. Now ifttt.com will not be free any more. Therefore I’m looking for alternatives. As it looks the https://pimatic.org/plugins/pimatic-assistant/ could be an alternative. But it looks much more complex to me and I’m a bit careful when I connect a website with my pimatic installation.
Any other ideas?

ifttt.com Alternatives

Hi, pimatic-assistant is a way to connect Google Assistant devices (Home, mini, app, etc) to Pimatic. It uses the nora service. It’s a Pimatic variant of the node-red nora plugin (so it can be used without node-red).
Depending on you use cases an alternative for IFTTT is node-red. Node-red can be easier (‘low-code’) once you got it running, the plugins installed and configured. So also there’s still some complexity. -
Thanks for your reply. I forgot to mention that I use e.g. my Google Home Mini to submit commands to ifttt.com which then perform a web request on my pimatic server, which then executes the action.
I’ll take a look at node-red. Thanks for that hint.

I do similar stuff with the pimatic-assistant. I moved all my stuff from ifttt at first to pimatic gBridge and after the death of gBridge I change to pimatic-assistant.
You can use for example a shell switch or button to execute a script on pimatic. -
I have half a house that works with pimatic paired with ifttt and alexa.
I’ve been working on moving everything to pimatic - node red - alexa for a few weeks now, it seems to work fine for now -
I’ve setup pimatic-assistant and the powerfulness is really cool. What I like most is the flexibility of the voice commands. That was a pain sometimes with ifttt. With pimatic-assistant this is much more usable.
The managed NORA backend is of course also very user-friendly. Although I still have some concerns because it is a black box and I don’t know who has access on my devices.
