@thickness said in Wunderground API V2/V3 access:
Wunderground has stopped the (developper) API access to the data.
They have (after some time) released access to the data if you have a “memberschip”.
more info can be found here.
@thickness The set of APIs you referenced are services of The Weather Company (another IBM business) which had been announced as a transition option for paying Wunderground customers. It looks like this option now is also available for weather station owners, who contribute data to the network. Generally, it looks like there is still no free service (it may be possible thought for users with legacy accounts).
- Can you please clarify what your understanding of “memberships” is and what kind of service is provided for whom?
- Can you please also provide a reference to a post where these APIs are named as “Wunderground v2/v3”?
Just my two cents: As the new APIs are much different from the original Wunderground APIs and they also appear to miss some features it may be hard to fit the new to APIs into the existing plugin. The most important feature of the wunderground plugin was the ability to obtain weather data as a HTML snippet which can be easily rendered as part of the pimatic UI. As far as I can see this is no longer be possible with the new APIs, but I may be wrong on this one as I only glimpsed over it. As @bertreb suggested it may make more sense to regard this as a new plugin project you can contribute, which I regard as highly valuable feature for whether station owners.
