MQTT JSON message.
Hello all.
How would you go about getting the following MQTT message into pimatic mqtt dimmer device?
gBridge/u95/d15364/openclose {“openPercent”:0}
The payload is the number, which in turn open/closes my blinds. Not sure how to extract the number for the MQTT dimmer device.

Hi, in the gBridge plugin the shutter/blinds is implemented, but as far as i know you couldn’t get the plugin to work.
If you use the MqttDimmer device you can put {“openPercent”: value} in the message field. And gBridge/u95/d15364/openclose in the topic field.

Yeah I dropped gBridge completely because the service have been very unreliable and no response from the developer.
So I have switched to node red integration called Nora. I’m just reusing the gBridge setup and adapting it to the node red setup.

Just curious, if you dropped gBridge, where is ‘gBridge/u95/d15364/openclose’ coming from. It looks like you’re using gbridge or is its just the topic name?
It’s the old gBridge setup. Just reusing the devices and rules I already made in Pimatic.
I’m not using the gBridge service anymore. Just too lazy to make new topics for the node red setup 😂
Tried inputting what you wrote, but pimatic just gives this error, so I don’t think it understand this setup, or maybe I’m doing something wrong.

I tried with space in front of value and without space. I tried to have {“openPercent”: value} in state value instead in the value field. I have tried to have resolution marked and empty. All giving the same error as above.
Setup looks good.
The plugin is converting the word value with the dimmer value, depending on the slide position, between 0-100 and sends it as payload with the topic.
Do you get the error when you slide the dimmer in the gui or on another moment?
Hmmm yeah.
It works when I slide in the gui, but as soon as it gets a mqtt message, then it gives the above error every time. Very strange.
You can see below when I ask my Google home to close the blinds it sends the below mqtt message. To me it looks identical to the setup in pimatic with only the value being changed.

Hahaha very strange. Now the blinds are moving, but the error still comes. Actually it comes 9 times in a row, but the device is now working with voice commands
MqttDimmer is not receiving a number as value in the payload coming from nora/nodered. Thats why the error.
A received payload with {“openPercent”: 10} or {“openPercent”: “10”} will both work and gives no error.
You could test it with the Mqtt tool. You could also check what Nora/Nodered is sending or convert the value to a number in Nodered, before sending it to Pimatic.

I will try and search the web for info regarding the node red and converting info inside. Just very strange that pimatic gives these errors when it is able to control the blinds.
I might end up just ignoring the errors, as it is working in real life.

Exactly. It is very strange. I tried mqtt tool from the play store to see the messages from Nora.
I think maybe there’s a bug in the mqtt plugin.
Yes I tried that, but when I’m sending above message it only gives the errors, it no longer controls the blinds even though I copy pasted exact same message from Nora.
