How does one create a ble plugin?
I found this great little place looking for a way to automate my mi-flora sensors, and am hoping to take my ability to integrate a step further, and control a b-hyve hose valve. It has BLE, and does show up on the HCI scan tool, but how does one figure out the interface in-order to interact with the device? Are there any guides out there for this?

@chris-banta Have a look https://pimatic.org/plugins/pimatic-ble-mi-flora/ to get a general idea on how you can create a plugin for the b-hyve. It uses https://pimatic.org/plugins/pimatic-ble/ which is another plugin for the basic ble communication. The latter is based on the noble package. Please note pimatic-ble must be loaded first before other plugins can use it.
EDIT: I am just curious. Do you have description for the b-hyve BLE protocol or are you going to reverse engineer it by yourself? Seems like the b-hyve guys haven’t published APIs yet which is a mistake in my opinion. Some guys have reverse engineered parts of the web protocol for the WiFi hub. For the WiFI hub there also is an unofficial MQTT gateway.

Thank you very much for your reply, I didn’t realize the me-flora plugin was generated with access to a documented api. Looking at the links you sent, “hacking” the Bluetooth api of the b-hyve and the encryption, is well past my ability. For now, I’ll keep an eye out, cross my fingers, and hope someone gets it figured out!
