Adding values from the past to the device

Hi,

is it possible to add some sensor data with timestamps?

Background:
There is an raspberry, which is collecting some sensor data. Normally the data is published directly via MQTT to the Pimatic server.
The problem is the internet connection. Sometimes there is no connection for a few hours, so a data cache is needed. The plan is to write a log file on the raspberry and sync it the an file on the server (are the any tools/scripts known). After each transfer, all new data points should be added to the pimatic database, is that possible

An other idea: running a second lightwight Pimatic on the Raspberry and sync the device data if there is an connection between them.

@thebluehill Please raise an issue on the MQTT plugin to check with maintainer whether or not support for history data is planned.

@mwittig Is the MQTT plugin the “problem” in my case? Is pimatic able to handle inputs with timestamp?

@thebluehill I am not saying the MQTT plugin is the problem. In my understanding all data should be disseminated using MQTT. So, in this case the plugin needs to handle the late arrivals and inject the data into the system. A plugin is capable of injecting history data by triggering the deviceAttributeChanged event on the framework. Note beyond, there is no REST-API for doing this right now.

@mwittig now I get your thoughts. Unfortunatly the mqtt-plugin seems to be “dead”, there are no action in the last months.

Is there an other plugin, with can handle the history data?

I don’t constantly check the historical data of individual devices. But when I read this article I looked at some mqtt devices. I don’t have any data in it either. Very funny.
Otherwise the mqtt plugin works very well.

Edit:
I looked at other devices. Temperature, pressure, switch, all without mqtt, … nowhere do I get a history.

Edit 2:
I have older histories, older than since 06/02.
On that day I had made a restart of pimatic. All older ones are available, also mqtt. Since 02.06. all histories are gone.

@thrusty Are you sure? In my test setup the data actually is written to the database and I can see history graphs.

@thebluehill Currently, there is no other plugin I am aware of which can handle the history data. The question also is what happens to the “late” arrivals. Is MQTT data generally timestamped when published and what the strategy for the subscribe to handle the late arrivals. Are you familiar with details? I am ready to look into this but I have not much time at moment. So it will take some to get back to this.

The plugin is not “dead” as it has gained quite some popularity. It is true @wutu is not reacting of service requests. Apparently, he has other priorities at present. If no other @developer steps in I’ll certainly take over to service the pending issues and PRs.

Before writing I should have waited and thought first. I deleted the database today. I don’t know where the problem came from. But it started when I restarted pimatic. I only noticed it yesterday. But now the database works normally again, with all devices.
