@bertreb Could also be that it’s because I didn’t push my changes, yet. But thanks for the hint.

Ok, I’ve managed to install the current version and in the first place the umlauts were not gone. Then I’ve deleted
echo-database
from the pimatic root folder after stopping pimatic. Then deleted the device list from alexa.amazon.com and searched for devices again. But I unplugged my echo dot 2nd gen before. This time the umlauts were fixed. So it might be because of the newecho-database
or because of the old echo dot.Just in case you have an old echo dot and a newer version, make sure that just the newer versions search for devices.

And now that it’s working I’m not even sure if it was the new release or just the fact that I unplugged my old echo dot.

@michbeck100 What device have you also use, when you unplugged your echo 2nd gen?
-
@tees I have a echo dot 3rd gen and the echo 2nd gen (https://www.amazon.de/Amazon-Echo-Intelligenter-Lautsprecher-Alexa/dp/B06ZXQV6P8). But I started the search from alexa.amazon.de not with my voice. Maybe that makes a difference. Unfortunately it’s not really transparent how alexa works here.

@michbeck100 I always use the Website alexa.amazon.de to discover for new device and the results are depending on which echo device is activated.
Last it only works almost correct, when only my echo dot 2nd gen is active. -
@tees how many echos do you have? For me, the echo dot 2nd gen was the problem. Could you try find out, what happens if just one echo is active at a time?

@michbeck100 Hi, i have one Echo dot 3rd gen and one Echo dot 2nd gen. I just had the 2nd gen active and the other deactive to discover initial my devices. The other way, only with 3rd gen or with both active, it does not work, as written before, the wrong devices where switched, i saif Küche and The TV was switched for example.
-
@tees Does your pimatic-echo run on port 80? I’ve seen elsewhere that the echo dot 2nd gen only works if the port is not 80.
I will try to check which combinations are working for me.
The problem with the wrong devices switched can actually only happen if you remove all devices and discover without resetting theecho-database
. Every device has an id, which is just a number. The API is likeapi/lights/{id}
and Alexa just remembers the name and the corresponding id. if this gets out of sync somehow I can imagine that you see such effects.pimatic-hap - pimatic HomeKit bridge

maybe this skill could work for pimatic nativly?
-
@michbeck100 I use default settings and think this is port 80. The strange thing is that only dot 2nd gen works correct.

Yesterday i get really sad of the topic. I just want to change one device and give it the same name like the device before. But it was not found. I deleted the echo database, i deleted the plugin folder, i switched off echo dot 3rd gen, i deleted all devices in alexa app…
But it does not find the correct devices and some where missing till now. I added some names to the devices for echo and they where found and some switch the correct device, but some switch wrong devices. I did not get it. Is there a possibility to delete the echo database? There must be something on amazon site. I have no more ideas. -
@tees I’m sorry to hear that. It’s really disappointing that the device discovery is so unstable. Most of the time I have no problems discovering new devices. Hope this will change once I have the pimatic skill running. But this will require an internet connection for pimatic, which might not be feasible for every user.

@michbeck100 Today i had a good idea. The only place left where a database could be stored were the echo devices. I unplugged my echo dot gen 2 and gen 3 and take my older gen 2 and resettet it. After reset it does not find a device, when pimatic was stopped. So i started pimatic and discover for devices and let echo search. After that all devices where found and work like they should. Except the Umlaute-Problem.
After i unplugged the old dot, the other dots can not switch the devices… so i have to discover once more with the new dot and in pimatic, after that everything works i hope ^^
-
@michbeck100 I had some problems today with my HA-Bridge again.
This was the Solution for me
Wich Version emulates the pimatic plugin?
In my config was 99999999 and i switched to 01036659, wich worked for me. -
Is there one that only echoes 3 gen. Uses?
I tried to add devices a year ago, without success.
Now suddenly I tried again and almost all devices were found.
After switching 1-2 times devices did not react or true away.
Now I have deleted all devices from Alexa and since then Alexe cannot find any devices.
My question is one of only Alexa echo 3 gen. Uses? And that works optimally.
Or does that only work with two?
