[Solved] Connect to http://pimatic not working after IP change

I used to be able to connect to “http://pimatic” in my home network since installation of my pimatic system on Raspberry Pi 2.
During intensive search for an issue I had to change the IP Adress (see my other post) and since then I cannot reach the gui anymore using “http://pimatic”.

I cab still reach the pimatic GUI but only by directly calling the new IP Adress in the browser. http://pimatic is not reachable

I cannot find any settings on my Fritzbox and fond nothing in the Pimatic config.

Does anybody now how to resolve this?

Try to clear your DNS cache. In Windows use

ipconfig /flushdns

You’ll need admin privileges for this.

Thanx but that does not help.

I have the same issue with all devices, iphone and Android tablet so I doubt that the issue is with the clients but more either with my router or with my pimatic.

Did you set the visibility in raspi-config ?

Try to reboot your router.

I have not changed any configuration, only assinged a new IP Adress, so when it was working before the visibility cannot be the issue.

May be you need to use the fully qualified name. Did you try http://pimatic.fritz.box ?

http://pimatic is just pointing to the wrong IP Adress, but where is this mapping???

It is resolved by your DNS server. That should be your router.
Delete the DNS cache of it.

There should also be a list of known devices with their assigned IP addresses in the Fritzbox.
Looks like PC-192-168-178-55 | 192.168.178.55
Edit the corresponding mapping and change the PCs name to pimatic.

• Login to your router
• Select Heimnetz / Heimnetzwerkübersicht / Netzwerkverbindungen
• Check if you have a network device with the Name “pimatic”
  • if yes: Make sure the entry has the correct IP address. You can edit it by pressing the button with the pencil icon on the right hand side of the row. Make sure the checkbox for assigning the same IP address each time is checked.
  • if no: Scroll down the buttom and press “Gerät” hinzufügen. Enter the details for the host which runs pimatic

I cannot believe it is that easy…
I never realized that the name I provide in the Fritzbox Network overview to a device actually leads to a DNS resolution…

renaming the “raspberry” to “pimatic” solved the issue, thanx guys…
