Smappee power meter integration?

The readings are very accurate, they match my electricity company hourly readings.

The reason I want pimatic support is to have all data at the same place, so I don’t have to use 10 different apps to control my home. I want a all in one solution 😁

Could not get the MQTT script to work. Some JAVA errors which i don’t understand.
So now i am moving on to something else I have found:

Looks like it will create a PHP file, which i then hopefully can grab using the log reader plugin.

We will see if I can figure it out. Otherwise maybe there are something from here I can use: https://github.com/mortenf/smappee-tools

Also, how do I make a dummy power meter? Can not find the device in Pimatic.

I think I have to give up. I don’t have the skills to figure this one out. I was able to create a file on my pi with the report from the smappee which then updates every second automatically. But I can’t figure out how to extract the 3 power consumption values from the report with the log reader. And even if I was able to extract them, then I need to add them up to one number to display in Pimatic. I guess it was just not meant to be for a smappee integration in Pimatic 😐

What are you using now?
Is this “report” written to a file?
Then you can use the Log-Reader Plugin. (I don´t use it, so i can´t help)

There is no power-meter device in Pimatic.
Use a Variables Device and create your own.

Adding Variables is not a problem. Simply create an expression variable and add Power1+Power2+Power3…
But first you have to get your values into variables

Thanks for your reply. Yeah I have figured out everything except for isolating those three values with the log reader plugin. The problem is they are all 3 named activePower and therefore I can not figure out how to isolate them with the plugin.
The report is written to smappee.txt on my raspberry pi every second. But that doesn’t help much when I can’t get the numbers out of the report sadly.

I don´t know if the Log Reader can handle Wildcards, maybe @leader21 can help.
Something like "match": "Phase 1:<BR>\tcurrent=WILDCARD A, activePower=()"

Maybe go another way and create a bashscript that parses the logfile via head command and sed and then push the findings via API into pimatic, all in one Script. Then use a shell sensor to call the script every x seconds/minutes.

Maybe an other solution: NodeRed Smappee
Seems to be brand new, so i can´t find any examples how to use it and what you can do with it.
Try to ask the developer of it
You have to install Node-Red for it, if you haven´t already…

Update:

So after 7 months of doing many other projects in my home automation system, I returned to this one since it was bothering me. And I finally got it working!!!

If someone else is using smappee I can explain what I did, otherwise, in short words, I got it working using the mqtt script posted earlier in this thread and then I made a dozen rules in Pimatic making the math and rounding off the numbers.

Now I have my watt usage displayed in Pimatic instead of having to use a separate app 😁👍👍
And now able to use integrate it in my rules 😁

@simonbove Would be nice if you can briefly summarize in a “How-To” article how you achieved the integration into pimatic.
