Pimatic no connection (XHR Poll Error)

Hi,

I often having the problem that pimatic seems to crash over night. No more rules are executed then and the UI shows me XHR Poll Error.
After a reboot it works fine for several days.
I already made a fresh install last weekend but was facing the problem again today.
Are there some logfiles I can post here?

Hi, all required information could be found in the ~/pimatic-app/pimatic-daemon.log file.

@dasmaetthes: My neighbor has the same problem. Pimatic stops working without any reason. Sometimes it is working for two weeks, sometime it stops two times a day. I spend much time to find the failure, but had no luck.
As workaround I made a cronjob (crontab—e) which is executed every minute. The cronjob tries to restart pimatic. If it is running the restart will be aborted. When Pimatic stops to work it will be automatically restarted. This restart is logged in a separate log.
Not perfect, but it works since summer. The log was clean, no errors.

Maybe it is a plugin which makes this problems. Which do you have installed.

Couldn’t really find something in the log.
But maybe it’s somehow connected with this two logs:

I’m using following plugins.
pimatic-cron, pimatic-mobile-frontend, pimatic-maxcul, pimatic-calendar, pimatic-netcheck and pimatic-openweather

Could you please send/post the cronjob?

The error could´t simply mean that you had no Internet-Connection…

Wich model do you use?
Enough power from your power-supply?
Do you use SD-Card, USB-Stick or Harddrive?
Whats your Processorload and temperature?

@dasmaetthes looks like your connection isnt stable. Are you using wifi?
Also, if your devices update too much it ca cause a crash too. Seeing you only decided to share 2 lines of a log file, i cant help you any further.

I’m also interested in the cron job. Sometimes pimatic stops, when I ask for the status the raspberry answers: PID file exist but is not answering. After restart everything is ok.

I’m using a Raspberry Pi 3 with an 5V 3000mA power-supply.
Raspbian is installed on a San Disk Class 10 8GB SD-Card
Current temperature is 42.4°C and processorload is 0,3?

@dasmaetthes i think wifi is the cause of that error. Connection drops probably. And well, pimatic drops too then…

@Gleno0h but shouldn’t pimatic just reconnect as soon wifi is available again?

I´m using WIFI too and have no problems…

Can you reach the Raspberry by SSH, if Pimatic crashes?
What USB-Devices are plugged in the Pi?
Something else running on the Pi?

@dasmaetthes not sure about that. But it could explain your problem. Like @Michael-Rudek said, can you access ssh when pimatic has crashed?

Yes, I can reach SSH.
Connected is a self built Nanocul and a Printer. But the Printer is manly powered off and has no energy, only when needed.
I’m running a CUPS for that printer on the Pi too.

About WiFi, found out now that there is a power save option active by default. I set it now to off.

I have the same issue, and are running on a wired Ethernet connection

I used monit to monitor pimatic, when it doesn’t respond anymore it is restarted automatically. But I prefer to have it running without this off course.

The problem occured again. I noticed now that the Pi dosn’t work at all. No SSH and the ACT LED dosn’t flash.

@dasmaetthes for testing purpose, remove all usb devices attached and see if it stays on.

maybe a corrupted memory card?

Without any USB device the same happens.
Made yesterday also a fresh install again on new memory card. But didn’t help. Now the problem occures even more often.

Will try next week an other Pi.

Are you able to measure the Voltage of the Pi?
If yes, measure Pin 1 against Pin 39 and Pin 2 against Pin 39

Changed the Pi and SD-Cardand made a new setup of pimatic. Now all works well last days.
