How to updateConfig by API?

Hey guys,

i’m trying to change a value in my config.json via api.
I’m using pimatic-watchdog-unix. Woks good so far. But i make an complete backup of my SD card once a week. This takes about 2 hours. Before i start the backup my backupscript stops pimatic. Every 30 minutes the watchdog plugin checks if pimatic is still running. So it will start pimatic during my backup process. To avoid this i’m trying to disable the plugin during the backup. I tried the follwing to disabe the plugin:

curl -X POST http://localhost:8080/api/config --user “user:pass” --data ‘{“config”:{plugins":[{“plugin”:“watchdog-unix”,“processEnabled”:false,“httpURL”:“http://127.0.0.1:8080/",“httpEnabled”:true,“watchdogCycleTime”:1800,"active”:true}]}}’

But pimatic gives me the answer: {“success”:false,“message”:“expected param: config”}

Any ideas what is wrong?

That doesn’t help you, because the watchdog is independent.
When pimatic is started, a watchdog is created that runs until the next restart of the server.

The watchdog creates a pid file in the pimatic folder. “./watchdog.pid”

kill the watchdog before the backup starts

kill -9 `cat /path-to-pimatic/watchdog.pid`

/api/config also expects a complete config.

I tried to stop the watchdog witch the shell-ececute plugin and the rule:

WHEN test_button is pressed
THEN execute "sudo kill -9 `cat /home/pi/pimatic-app/watchdog-data/watchdog.pid`"

When i press the button the first time and the watchdog script is running, everything works as expacted. But when i press the button once again and the script is not running i get the following error messages from pimatic:

error [pimatic]: Error on evaluation of rule condition of rule test_rule: undefined 
error [pimatic]: rule test_rule error executing an action: Error: Command failed: /bin/sh -c sudo kill -9 `cat /home/pi/pimatic-app/watchdog-data/watchdog.pid`
error [pimatic-shell-execute]: [ShellActionHandler] Error: Command failed: /bin/sh -c sudo kill -9 `cat /home/pi/pimatic-app/watchdog-data/watchdog.pid`

But when i execute the following cmd in the shell i get no errors:

/bin/sh -c 'sudo kill -9 `cat /home/pi/pimatic-app/watchdog-data/watchdog.pid`

So why i get errors from pimatic?

the kill command returns an error code, if the process is not running. (no process with this pid)
pimatic checks the returncode

change it to this, now it’s always ok:

THEN execute "sudo kill -9 `cat /home/pi/pimatic-app/watchdog-data/watchdog.pid` || : "
