Get dynamic value to frontend

could someone give me an example on how to get a dynamic value from the device to the frontend?

As far as I understood, I could call the device methods via

@device.rest.doSomeStuff

but how could I access the return value in the frontend?

For example the doSomeStuff method looks like that:

doSomeStuff: ->
  return Math.random

Now I want to replace a divs content with the given value. How needs the code to look like in the frontend CS file?

$("#placeholder").html(returnValue)

you can manipulate the html divs
first search for them

    afterRender: (elements) ->
      @SomeElement = $(elements).find('#div-id')
      or 
      @SomeElement = $(elements).find('.div-class')

after that manipulate this element

@SomeElement.addClass('newclass')

a good reference is the pimatic GUI
Im not an html expert but over this way you can also change the innerHTML.

Thx for your reply. Manipulating the DOM elements is no problem. But I don’t know how to get values from the Plugin/device to the frontend deviceItem
