I published a new version of the plugin which includes support for strings, and I also tested the npm package with both number and string messages with a clean install of pimatic.
To update (or install) the plugin, go to your pimatic-app directory (the one with config.json and node_modules in it) and run:
npm install pimatic-mqtt-simple -
Anyidea how to get pywws to work with pimatic?
I’ve set pywws to send mqtt mesage but the pimatic plugin doesn’t like the message.
This is what i have as the device:
{
“class”: “MqttSimpleSensor”,
“id”: “weatherstation”,
“name”: “Weather Station”,
“mqtturl”: “mqtt://localhost”,
“attributes”: [
{
“name”: “temp_in_c”,
“topic”: “weatherstation”,
“type”: “number”,
“unit”: “c”,
“acronym”: “Inside Temperature”
},
{
“name”: “temp_out_c”,
“topic”: “weatherstation”,
“type”: “number”,
“unit”: “c”,
“acronym”: “Outside Temperature”
}
]
}Here is the message that the weatherstation sends.
mosquitto_pub -h localhost -t weatherstation -m ‘{“rel_pressue”: “30.5015”, “wind_ave”: “0.00”, “rain”: “0”, “rainin”: “0”, “hum_in”: “64”, “temp_in_f”: “66.4”, “dailyrainin”: “0”, “wind_dir”: “225”, “temp_in_c”: “19.1”, “hum_out”: “81”, “dailyrain”: “0”, “wind_gust”: “0.00”, “idx”: “2015-10-22 21:41:03”, “temp_out_f”: “49.6”, “temp_out_c”: “9.8”}’

I’ve managed to edit the plugin to accept a JSON message, it’s my first stab at coffeescript but works.
The code is on my github
https://github.com/matt2005/pimatic-mqtt-simpleI’ve also created a pull request to hopefully get it put in the main plugin.

Great work, @wutu. I’ve not had time to work on my plugin at all, and I think it’s time I officially retire it .
I’ll direct people to your plugin instead, it’s much more complete than mine.

@amiller Thx, I appreciate that.
