[pimatic-led-light] set color to hex stored in variable

How do I get to set the color of a pimatic-led-light lamp (yeelight) to a hex color stored in a variable?

I want to control a Hue Ambiance together with a Yeelight color. When the Hue turns on I get its color temperature, convert it to hex and store that hex in a variable. Now I would like to turn the Yeelight on and set its color to the Hex variable. I can do that manually, writing some hex like so:
turn Yee 1 on and set Yee 1 to #FFB168
but I cant do:
turn Yee 1 on and set Yee 1 to $myVar

Im guessing this is because my variables unit type isn’t declared properly, but I cant find what I should put in to make it work. Currently I’ve got it set to Value and no unit, but I have already tried some unit types like Hex, Color, etc to no avail. Haven’t found a list of allowed unittypes in the code so far either.

Anyone got ideas what I should do?

define the variable without ‘#’ (only ‘FFB168’) and call the rule this way.

turn Yee 1 on and set Yee 1 to #$myVar

Thanks for the idea, unfortunately this also results in an Error:
Could not find an provider that provides the next action of "set Yee 1 to #$myVar".

$myVar is a variable of type value without any unit set.

The complete rule looks like this:
execute "./home/pi/conv.sh $b2.ct" and turn Yee 1 on and set Yee 1 to #$myVar
Where conv.sh takes the ct value, calculates the hex from it and updates myVar via the api.

Do you maybe have some unit set for the var? Or some Plugin that allows this to work for you?

Tried it in that moment. I’m not able to set the color basing on a variable.

Im fairly new to pimatic, is this a pimatic core issue or pimatic-led-light plugin issue?

I’ve looked into the pimatic-led-light plugin and found out that it provides an action set color by temperature which takes a variable (I guess its expecting numerical celsius ~between 0 and 30) and calculates a hex value from this. So variable support theoretically is already present.

Never having touched coffescript before I tried to modify the code such as to allow to pass a hex variable to it directly, but now the plugin doesn’t even seem to work anymore. Bein in debug mode reading through the logs all that I can see is that pimatic (not the plugin but the core) prints this message: error [pimatic]: Cannot find module 'lodash' right after loading pimatic-led-light.

I didnt change anything about the imports so I dont really know what to do with this error. With the original file it finds the module without a problem.

Can anyone help / point me in the right direction?

Edit: Since the original code somehow didnt find the lodash module either suddenly I installed it manually. Now both codes run, but my added option for direct hex value does not seem to work.

Edit 2: I have changed the code so as to accept a hex variable instead of the temperature, leaving everything else as is, works for me for the time being but this ofc replaces the normal “set color to temperature by variable” action.

Since I dont have time to learn coffeescript and appearently no one who does is really interested in proper Yeelight support I have now created a python script based on this and just run all my commands to my Yeelight via shell-execute.

Thanks for the hint. It works as well for me from the command line.
Till now when I was not able to control the light via pimatic over led-light plugin I must poweroff the light shortly. After powering it up it I was able to control it once more over the plugin.

@WosO : Are you able to use hex with that code. I can’t find it in the wiki…

For me restarting the light (or pimatic) didnt work.

I got hex working, but you have to input it without a # (because argparse for some reason thinks its a comment then I guess), you can checkout my gist.
I will propably update it in the next few days with readability changes and add some more functionality to it.
Feel free to add to it yourself tho and let me know if you do!

I really like that I am able to pass multiple actions to it in one go and work them off in order of cli args, as I didn’t want rules with many execute actions calling the same script.

Currently my main use for it is making my Yeelight follow my Phillips Hue Ambiance for wich I got a Dimmer Switch:

Off:
when state of Hue Ambiance equals off then execute "/usr/bin/python3 /home/pi/pimatic-app/scripts/yeelight-cli.py -a 10.0.0.66 --off"

On:
when state of Hue Ambiance equals on or when $b2.ct changes or $b2.dimlevel changes then execute "/usr/bin/python3 /home/pi/pimatic-app/scripts/yeelight-cli.py -a 10.0.0.66 --on --brightness $b2.dimlevel --hue-color-temperature $b2.ct"

(Hue Ambiance = b2)
