Create new plugin [pimatic-mihome]

Hi!

I wonder if anyone is already working on implementing the Mi Smart Home eco system into pimatic?

Sensors are very cheap and use Zigbee!

It’s seems not too much trouble, since there is already a package for npm: https://www.npmjs.com/package/mijia or https://www.npmjs.com/package/miio.

Anybody interested in this? Implementation should be similar to pimatic-max (with the Mi gateway as controller). Also the yeelight plugin could be a starting point.

Since I don’t have the skill / time to do it alone, I would be more than happy if someone picks it up.

I am cucrrently trying to learn some more JavaScript, so I’ll try to implement this as a plugin.

At the moment I cannot afford to buy the set, but once I have the set I’ll start working on this.

I would be happy too, if a plugin was avaible. This could improve my pimatic experience a lot!

I’m really interested too! Unfortunately I have not the skills to make such a plugin.

I am still waiting for my starter set.

I am also very interested in a Zigbee plugin. Zigbee stuff is very cheap in China, like the Aqara sensors and switches.

but as always - volunteers for the codework especially at the core are very very welcome!! we could use any assistance on that

Hi,
the setup works well, no problems till now. Have now 11 temp sensors and 6 contact sensors running. The pirs are still on the way, wait now round about 6 weeks.

Is anyone actually working on a plugin to integrate Xiaomi Smarthome Components?

I am currently using 433mz Sensors which do not work reliable. The Xiaomi components seems to be cheap and reliable and it would be great to be able to add them to pimatic. The existing guide unfortunately is too complex

@cherberg I started to work on this recently, but it is on hold now in favor of porting pimatic to node 8. Most of the mihome base library requires node >= 6 anyway, which is a bit of a blocking issue.

Unless someone steps in my suggestions is go for the extra mile by familiarizing with mqtt. Perhaps someone can help you with the existing guide. Please ask for help on the other thread. Thanks - https://forum.pimatic.org/topic/3708/inxiaomi-smart-home-via-mqtt

My suggestion to you is to also look into other alternatives along the requirements you have.

@mwittig Thanx for the reply. Unfortunately I neither have the time nor the skills to get familiar with mqtt. I would also believe this scares away many potential users with similar background who would go as far as to try and configure things via a gui but would not want to learn “programming” leaving the total pimatic community rather small and exclusive to “nerds” (sorry not meant in a negative way ) which is sad because pimatic is a great thing but the community seems indeed quite small.

I am thinking about using Dashbuttons with a reed sensor as door/window sensors because luckily I can solder

For me, the topic of mqtt was and is also completely new. But I installed it according to the instructions - the detection of all sensors works very well and safely.
In addition, I learned a lot about the subject. I can recommend the mihome system!

@Revo Thanx but unless there is a Plugin with a GUI this will not work for me
