allright, then let’s answer some questions
to make it short :
Can I communicatie directly to the radiatorthermostat actuator (without a cube or other additional hardware)?
no you need some kind of hardware transceiver as cul or cube (you can flash a cube to a cul but building a cul is cheaper)
Can I Simply set the actuator to OPEN and CLOSED or must I need exorbitant values to send to the acuator
see below, 5° = off, 32° = on. all temps below 5 will result in off and above 32 will result in on (valve closed / opened fully
What actuator do I need (Basic, Standard or Plus)? I don’t need to know the measured temperature from the actuator. Just open and close
the basic ones will do if you don’t need special adapters and a lit display.
ok now the longer part
there are at least three solutions for radiator contol that i am aware of.
the most popular is max with either the max plugin or the maxcul plugin.
the max plugin is corresponding to the maxcube as gateway. the cube is acting as middleware / cpu for the thermostats and hardware devices. it provides timetable options, room setups with wall thermostat and window sensor.
the maxcul plugin must have a cul for operation. the cul iis just the “transceiver” for the 868MHz hardware as homeduino is for the 433MHz basically spoken.
so if you need a basic solution, try the maxcul plugin. a cul is built very easy and at low costs. for simple on / off the basic thermostats are sufficient. i am having the standard here, they have a larger and lit-up display, the enclosure is different and there is only one danfoss adapter included.
learn more here about the plugins

and here https://pimatic.org/plugins/pimatic-maxcul/
then there is the comet50 for avm fritzbox https://pimatic.org/plugins/pimatic-fritz/
and i know of zwave https://github.com/Timvdv/pimatic-zwave-usb but never got in touch with that.
if you want to build the max hardware yourself check this thread and the links in it
https://forum.pimatic.org/topic/169/max-wt-thermostate-diy-kit-assembly-instructions
the max radiator thermostats are easy to build. sorry but i don’t know where to get the assembly kits in the netherlands … in germany it’s elv.de
ok next thing is the on/off question. you can set the radiator thermostat open or close if set the temp to 32°C = on or off is 5°C. not really sure if these temps are hardcoded nor if the valve settings can be changed via rule, please correct me anybody if i am wrong!!
hope this will help and is not too confusing!
