how to count the week(s) since certain day/time

Hi there,

short and simple:

I want to monitor my garden.
I mowed my garden 2 weeks ago - thats why I want to add 2 weeks from the gui manually.
When the garden is freshly mown I’d like to reset the counter via gui.

And with a rule I’d like to add +1 it every week.

I simply fail to add a Variable Device to set a Variable that I can manipulate from the website - and that automatically adds one week after a certain day and time (Monday 00:00). I tried different VariablesDevices and failed to link them because I don’t seem to get which expression links them together! A simple Howto would be great…

for example

seems to set a daytime variable - but if I want to change it

Help would be very appreciated

Please be more specific.

• Do you want to increase the weeks after a certain (start) date?
• Do you want to increase the week after a certain start date but start on the first Monday after that start date?
• Do you simply want the current week number in this year?

And you want to manipulate it from the website and at the same time you want it automatically?

Please explain your use-case, not your solution.

And with a rule I’d like to add +1 it every week (friday 14:30 was the last time I’ve mown my garden, so every friday at 14:30 +1).

With every reset the rule should - could be altered too with the exact time and day of the reset… but if that’s automatically very complicated I’d stick with adding it manually

I also added the core Info in the intro-Post

Why not use a shellsensor device with the date command date +%W which will display the actual week number.

Then it should be possible via rule to count backwards / forwards and set the “mow week” and compare everything etc…

ok, so I’ve got the week via shellsensor - but how do i define the variable that saves the week by klicking a button - because it has to stay the same even if i restart the system

i want to save the week, the hour and the minute in 3 different variables and count down to the time that is now - and display these.

How do I save the passed week and time?

Weeks make it difficult, better is to use days (because I know how to do that )
2 weeks = 14 days.

Set a variable with a shellsensor with somethin like new_date=$(date -d "+14 days")

If you do that in the terminal you get something like

$ date
wo jul  6 14:07:28 CEST 2016
$ NEW_DATE=$(date -d "+14 days")
$ echo $NEW_DATE
wo jul 20 14:07:35 CEST 2016
