Hello,

i want to ask if you are interrested in a plugin that displays the the weather warnings from the “Deutscher Wetter Dienst” and makes it possible to use the data in rules ?

If it’s like that, i will develop it in the near future.

I think it would be nice to use this data for automatic window blinds or water pumps etc.

Or to make other actions whenweather warnings will come in the future.

Little example: just let a small red LED flash/shine to signal here would come some warnings.

Are you planning

• to grab the data directly from the web page,
• to use GDS data via the ftp data service,
• to use WebVerdis,
• or do you have access to another data source?

Using DWD data can be challenging when you get into details eventhough provides a good amount of documentation (for GDS adata at least).

May be the following is also interesting for the legal side of this:

Frei verfügbare Daten unserer Internetseite bzw. aus unserer Grundversorgung dürfen unter Einhaltung der Nutzungsrechte weiterverwendet werden. 2. Der DWD bietet einen FTP-Account zum kostenfreien Download aller Daten und Produkte aus dem Globalen Datensatz (GDS) an. Über diesen Account sind auch eine Vielzahl von Spezialdienstleistungen aus der Grundversorgung des DWD abrufbar. Dazu zählen u.a. alle Warnungen, auch für SMS-Dienste, grafisch aufbereitete Satelliten- und Radarbilder, Messwerte sowie Vorhersagen als Texte und Karten - auch für den Bereich Seeschifffahrt und Medizinmeteorologie. Informationen zu den Inhalten finden Sie in der Datei legend_basic_service_level.xls anbei und permanent aktualisiert im Unterverzeichnis /gds/help. Dort sind auch Hinweise zur Weiterverarbeitung unserer Warnungen abgelegt (Datei legend_warnings.xls, siehe Anhang). Nach Eintrag Ihrer Mailadresse und Bestätigung der Nutzungsbedingungen erhalten Sie eine Mail, die Sie bitte einfach bestätigen. Dann folgt eine Zweite mit Ihren FTP-Zugangsdaten (User, Password). Eine Stunde später können Sie die Wetterinformationen vom FTP-Server des DWD herunterladen.

Die Nutzung der Grundversorgung unterliegt keinen Nutzungsbeschränkungen: “Alle aufgeführten Leistungen des Deutschen Wetterdienstes sind urheberrechtlich geschützt. Vervielfältigung und Verbreitung sind, auch auszugsweise, mit Quellenangabe gestattet. Under the following adress is a list of objects you can use freely :

One of this datasources ist a Json file wich contains all warning data:

I think it should be relatively simple to parse this data and embed it into a plugin.
You do not need any ftp login etc.

From the copyright side,there should be no problem if i make a comment in the Readme:

i would appreciate this plugin for our German users
would be nice (if possible) to set a warning level for different happenings then (like on the app WarnWetter from the DWD)

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, the JSON file conatins less meta data than the records provided with ftp data service. May be it is still good enough to provide desired level of functionality. Btw, a list of all weather events can be found in legend_warnings_CAP.pdf which is part of http://www.dwd.de/DE/leistungen/gds/weiterfuehrende_informationen.zip?__blob=publicationFile&v=9

I think for the desired purpose the JSON file contains enough data.
We get the start/end times, the location, warning level and the type:

i released the first version of pimatic-dwd. It no the beautiest one at the moment but it works.

I would be glad if someone of you would test it an give me some feedback.

just a question for understanding the warning level better. level minor will display all warnings, right?

The “readme” Link does not work

After adding it to my dashboard i had a weird crash.
Everything i have in my tabs was on one Page.
Refresh didn’t help and i had to restart pimatic

i testet all links. seem to work for me.
if you are referring to the ZoneID, this cannot be shown in the github webpage.
you can download it onto your pc and open with acrobat reader

does everything now work again? maybe this is just a minor issue…

which link do you mean, michael?

It is the link as part of the plugin info shown in the frontend. It does not yet work as the plugin has not been indexed, yet. The indexer runs once a about 2am amd it will add new plugins to https://pimatic.org/plugins. The problem should be solved automatically then.

I can’t get this to work. Creating the device seems to go fine but as soon as a want to add it i get this from pimatic-daemon.log:

[pimatic-mobile-frontend] error: Client error: Cannot read property 'length' of undefined

did you clear cache and reloaded pimatic? maybe this helps.
remember i had a similar issue but blamed it on the cache…
