@StefanSchmid have u tried without “set” ? just the operation itself should do the trick

@Partovic
Hi. i just testet this action, but didn’t work.Has anyone an idea which actions like set, with, close are allowed in rules?
Is the anywhere a complete list? -
well, i just checked that again, imho it should work like that
WHEN $lautstarke-kueche.dimlevel changes THEN set $kuche = $lautstarke-kueche.dimlevel
did you try the gui mode for creating rules?
the following example works for me (just quickly thrown some random values together)pimatic v0.9 has been released!

Old topic but I just ran into this problem too. Dimmer is not a problem and I have such setups working in other places.
The problem seems to be that the “dimlevel” of a DenonAvrMasterVolume can’t be set via rules.Any ideas? @mwittig

Ok figured it out but can definitely be improved…
dim avr-4 to XX
works for me where avr-4 is the ID of the device.

@thex What exactly needs to be improved?
pimatic v0.9 has been released!

@leader21 für me “dim” was not intuitive as it is a device for Volume.
An improvement could be to support something like.set dimmer-device to XXX set $dimmer-device.dimlevel to XX

As far as donon-avr is concerned I have answered that as part of https://github.com/mwittig/pimatic-denon-avr/issues/20. The README now contains a summary of the relevant predicates and actions which can be applied for each device type. I agree using the “dim” action for volume control isn’t intuitive as you say, but the advantage is that this works out-of-the-box. I may add a specific action for volume control, like I have recently implemented an action to select the input source.

Yes I have seen your answer on github, thanks! Great that you directly added it to the readme.
I agree, it should work “right out of the box” thus I would suggest adding the set syntax to the general dimmer implementation in pimatic.

I agree, this would be a nice shortcut for setting the primary attribute of a device. Note, however, the dimmer has the “state” and the “dimlevel” attributes as it is inherited from switch. Another possibility would be to provide a “set attribute” action corresponding to the “<attribute> of <device>” predicate. Needless to say, a “set attribute” action should only show settable attributes as some attribute may be read-only. This would be a matter of the device implementation.
