New plugin pimatic-netatmo

Just so that nobody else starts working on it and we do the work twice.
I have a netatmo plugin in the works and think that I can provide a first version next week

It already is working quite well for the base station. I now need to ad the other netatmo devices and do some cleanup.

I don’t have a additional indoor module, rain gauge or wind sensor so I can’t test these. I will try to implement them but I won’t be able to test anything. Beta testers and hardware donations welcome .

@thex Nice! Once this is released i will try to add support for pimatic-hap. For me hardware donations are welcome, too, since i don’t have any devices to test .

Would love to do a beta test or even (try to) help with the development.

First version out on github, need to check how the npm registration works.
I now added error handling and cleaned up the code a bit. No longterm testing done yet.

I also implemented the indoor, wind and rain sensor but I can’t test them in any way. I suspect that at least the rain sensor will need additional work as currently the latest values are pulled but the API would also allow timespans like 1h or 1day which would make more sense for a rain sensor maybe. The API doc doesn’t really tell much about what exactly the values returned describe.

Please run with loglevel debug if possible but all important stuff should be spit out on warn/error/info.

In general I need some more practice with coffescript but this time wrapping my head arround promises and coffescript already worked out much better. Also thinking about going back and start maintaining the other plugins I initially created (pimatic-play, pimatic-pushover)

Thanks! Keep them coming and also the feedback. Really need to get up to speed again with programming and further need to wrap my head around nodejs/coffescript/promises.
Day job since some time is “only” management.

Could you give me a short intro of how to install this to pimatic? Didn’t got it running.

as it is now published to npm you should be able to install it via npm.
I actually don’t know if adding it to the config will install it yet. (@mwittig @sweetpi does the plugin need to be added anywhere else to support this?)

cd ~/pimatic-app/node_modules/pimatic/node_modules/
npm install pimatic-netatmo

and then edit you config like described here:

as far as i am into it, there is an automated process that is parsing npm (or github?) for any new plugins. could be that it takes some time to get updated to the plugin database
pls correct me anybody if i am wrong.

Seems to be the case, just checked my productive pimatic setup and it is available there like all other plugins for installation via plugin manager. Great!

@thex: That’s exactly what I did 2 days ago. Unfortunately it’s not working. What I get is an error.

From pimatic-daemon.log:

13:34:11.284 [pimatic] error: Could not initialize the plugin "netatmo": Cannot find module './device-config-schema'

The plugin and devices section I configured with “my” values. These are already working inside my php script so I think these are correct.

Any ideas?

looks like this file was missing from the npm config.

Updated it and published v0.0.4 to npm.

Hope that fixes it, can’t test at the moment.

@thex: Mmmmh. Still the same. What I did to upgrade (perhaps this is not a correct way to get a new version?)

try

npm update pimatic-netatmo

instead of

npm install pimatic-netatmo

if you already have it installed.

It should also be possible to update it via the update function of mobile frontend.

@thex Tried to update the package. No success.

So went the Windows way … Uninstall + install again.

 npm uninstall pimatic-netatmo

 npm install pimatic-netatmo

In the pimatic-daemon.log I still get

14:43:25.367 [pimatic] info: Loading plugin: "pimatic-netatmo" (0.0.1)

So probably the version string needs to be updated too.

BUT: Now everything is working!!!

Wired, version string was updated.

Also just installed the latest 0.0.4 via the gui on my productive system and its working great.

Nevertheless great that it is working for you now. Which sensors do you have?
